Workers Contradictions Versus the Bible by J.M. ![]()
How would you know if you are deceived? ![]()
If it is true that people who sincerely believe in something can be deceived, how would they discover whether or not they are, in fact, being deceived?
Simple. Turn to God's word.
I believe that in order to escape deception, a person would need an authoritative and reliable source of information outside his "testimony" by which he can judge spiritual truths and compare his experience. He must be willing to subject his "testimony" to something other than the grilling of his own subjective experience which he claims to be from God. Why? Because if the person used his own testimony to validate his experience then he could not determine whether or not he is deceived since that is appealing to that which is part of the deception to discover truth. It won't work.
Therefore, in order to discover if you are being deceived, you must appeal to God's word and compare your "testimony" to it. If what your testimony points to is in contradiction to God's word, then your testimony is not true.
"See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men; according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ." Colossians 2:8
There are many today who regard truth and error as matters of small consequence; if a man lives rightly, they say, it matters not much what his beliefs and opinions are. Such statements do not surprise us. Night and day are all one to a blind man. Truth and error are all one to an ignorant man.

(1.)....................QUOTES ON ALLEGORIZATION
Their most common use of scripture is to “spiritualize” it rather than take it at face value.
Haaken Ausenus, Olympia Convention 8/25/79 - “Give us this day our daily bread” ---- it is a matter of daily seeking the face of God for spiritual nourishment. Jesus is not talking about food, he is talking about the Word of God.”
Brother worker at Olympia Convention - “”The Church is like an earthworm. It sweetens sour soil and makes it productive. It is humble and its safety is in keeping hidden. When it pokes its head out of the ground a bird can see it and eat it.”
Garrett Hughes, Florida Special Meetings 1987 - “Our gathering with you all today is so wonderful! Do you know what makes it so wonderful? It is the clouds! The sun shining on the clouds. And what are those clouds? Eh? How do the clouds get up there? You know how they got there? The sun shined on all the wet places in the world. It shined on the sea and vaporized that water and left the salt behind. It shined on the bogs and the swamps and vaporized it and made the clouds. That’s God’s people! And I claim that is what is in the world today! The Son is already shining on the clouds. You can look out there in the East and see the Son shining there on the clouds. The Son is going to rise and sure enough, that is where we are today! The clouds are God’s people separated from everything they have been in.
Frances Layden, Convention 1960 - “The process by which an object is placed into an oyster to being the creation of a peral is an illustration of the pain one must undergo in order for the work of the gospel to take place in one’s life. When people listen to the gospel, a portion of the life of Christ is planted within them. Apart from this we could not possess the life and nature of Christ.”
Milltown Convention 1988 - “Convention is like a Japanese teahouse where the friends come to be refreshed.”
Howard Mooney, Portland, Oregon Special Meeting, 1954 - He is the True Vine. The true preacher is like the branches. He gives his life solely for others. He is just the medium by which the life of the wine may flow into the fruit. The little clusters of grapes on the vine are like God’s people; the most important part. We are gathered here today like little clusters of grapes. All these good things have been planted for us. The most important thing we can do is hang on….It is wonderful to be able to hang on to something that can give us life.
Howard Mooney, Orick Convention August 1969 - “The land of Israel is a type and shadow of the Fellowship He gives us today…..The Kingdom of Heaven: ***(Replacement Theology
in their allegorization - Exchanging the Jewish bloodline, promises, blessings and cursings with the 2x2 church)***
George Walker - “Because of sin entering the world, God’s plan was changed. When man sinned, God planned re-Creation’s plan. First, God’s purpose is to give light. We received light because Christ came to dwell in our hearts but did not have the fullness of light. Second, after He had given light to us, He began to draw us unto Himself. Third, as God separated the dry land from the sea, we are no longer submerged and swallowed up in worldliness. It is then that fruit can begin to appear. Fourth, God created the sun, moon and stars in the beginning of the fourth day to shine forth in the day and the night. After the first three steps of re-creation, the real separations have taken place in our lives and we begin to become fruitful, it is then Christ, the Son of Righteousness, can begin to shine in our lives. Fifth, the fishes, animals and fowls of the sea and winged fowls of the earth were created. When Christ rules and shines forth in our lives, then we are in a position to face and fight the world, flesh and devil. Sixth, the animals of the earth and man were made. The animals of the earth and man living under God’s control. ***(This is why the workers do not give God the glory for the physical creation of the universe. They have “spiritualized” allegorized it out of existence.)***
(2.)....................QUOTES ON ANGELS
Alan Ashmore, -12/22/65 "Angels are men and have no wings."
Alan Ashmore,- gospel meeting 8/8/65 "In the Old Testament, the angels were used more than in the New Testament because Christ was not yet given. Angels were used to establish law and order. Angels don't understand fully the mystery of Christ humbling Himself even to the death because they are spiritual and haven't experienced it. They are used to answering prayers even of sinners and saints. The saints will one day judge the angels."
Larry Butler, "When a woman cuts her hair, even just cuts a little for bangs, it cuts off the ministering of the angels."
Howard Mooney, - Special Meeting, Tacoma, WA - “But while it is wonderful to find ourselves above the clouds and while it is wonderful to know that we have been brought into the fellowship of angels. The religious world misses a great deal of comfort along this line. They think of an angel as a winged being they will meet after death. They do not realize that God intended for us to be comforted by help from angels now; that they are given to help us prepare for death.”
Everett Swanson - Five Mile Gospel Meeting WA 10.18.76“Angels are ministering spirits to those who would be heirs of salvation.” Hebrews 1:14”
(3.)....................QUOTES ON BAPTISM
Harry Brownlee, October 29, 1995 Hunter, North Dakota Convention - "In Noah's day, the ones who did believe, they were in the ark. I can tell those who really believe today. They are following Jesus. They're walking in Jesus' Way. They're doing it the Bible way. Believe and be baptized."
Harry Holland - Walla Walla, Washington - 1959, "It takes a very short time to be baptized but it takes a lifetime to live out what baptism means. Because we believed and received the gospel, we became candidates for baptism but it doesn't make us a Christian.
Garrett Hughes - Texarkana Convention, Texas 7/74 - “Do God’s servants have the discretion to say who is ready for the step of baptism? Yes, because they are looking for the Spirit of God that separates a person from all that was of Egypt. God doesn’t look for a set of rules or a set standard, but He looks for something that is changing our whole life.”
Willie Jameison 1965 - “Baptism is the workers’ decision not yours.”
Anton Koutsourelis - Chelan Convention 1981 - “The step of baptism is how they remember their covenant and promise to God to put to death the previous life and to strengthen the new life…the life of Christ.”
Everett Swanson 1960 - “Baptism is necessary to express our willingness to die to self, but it isn’t what saves us.”
Tharold Sylvester, "Baptism is a type of burial. When someone dies, he is covered with earth, not sprinkled with a little dirt."
Tharold Sylvester, Olympia Convention “Baptism is a type of burial. When someone dies he is covered with earth, not sprinkled with a little dirt. The authority to baptize was given only to one type of ministry. The ones to who Jesus gave this authority. No minister can bring you into anything more than what he has. The wrong kind of minister, even though he might baptize you by immersion can only bring you into the church that he is a part of. On the other hand, when one is baptized by a minister who is in fellowship with Jesus, he shares with him the same pure fellowship that he is enjoying.”
Eldon Tenniswood - Hayden Lake, Idaho Convention 1949, "Some feel pride and some feel doubt at their baptism but it is an action which must take place to be more accepted. Baptism is a serious step and not to be taken lightly. It means making a commitment for life.
The authority to baptize was given only to one type of ministry. The ones to who Jesus gave this authority. No minister can bring you into anything more than what he has. The wrong kind of minister, even though he might baptize you by immersion, can only bring you into the church he is a part of. On the other hand, when one is baptized by a MINISTER WHO IS IN FELLOWSHIP WITH JESUS, HE SHARES WITH HIM THE SAME PURE FELLOWSHIP THAT HE IS ENJOYING.
There is no record of a hired minister in the New Testament to preach the word of God. No hireling minister has any scriptural right to baptize anybody. Jesus deliberately sought to have the scriptures fulfilled in His life and ministry.
Eldon Tenniswood, Elder’s meeting 1975 - “Baptism is necessary for salvation.”
- (Actually, the workers will NOT baptize anyone who does not follow their rules, anyone who has been divorced, or who is still asking Christian doctrinal questions.)
- (Professing people who have not been baptized are not allowed to take communion.)
(4.)....................QUOTES ON THE BELIEFS
Howard Mooney - Gospel meeting Saginaw Oregon 8/81 - “Believe in the divinity of Christ; believe also that the Way He represented is the True Way from earth to heaven, believe this and be willing to separate from all else and adhere to that Way. We have life through believing in His name.”
Rose Mooney - Special meeting 11/71 - “The gift of divine life begins when we believe (the workers). The divine life is what feeds us, gives hope, evaluates profitable things. It is easily lost because it may be misused or we didn’t value it.” (if we stop believing the workers)
Stanley Watchhorn - Post Falls Convention 1955 - “We need God to believe in us so that He can trust us and help us stay steadfast to the end.”
(5.)....................QUOTES ON THE BIBLE
Edward Cooney, Fermanagh Times 5/2/1907 - “The interpretation of the Scripture was and is alone entrusted by Jesus to his destitute sent ones, primarily and in a secondary sense to those in fellowship with them.”
Dan Hilton - “The Bible is not a book to study. Learn the Bible on your knees.”
Sydney Holt, personal letter 1/17/80 - “The Bible is God’s inspired Word.”
Howard Mooney’s Overseas Visits - Gems - 1980-1981 Australia and New Zealand.“Carson mentioned that some had asked him about the new translations of the Bible, if it was right to read them. His answer was that it might not be so terribly wrong to read them, but in some case it might not be safe. They contain some teachings that are much different than what we have received in the beginning. We know that our old Authorized Version KJV is safe because that is what the workers used to bring life to us in the first place. We will always be safe if we cling to it.”
Harry Mooridian - 12/29/68 - “People can’t understand the Bible, but they can understand a life.”
Sister worker, gospel meeting, Los Angeles, CA 10/15/72 - “The Scripture will never bring anyone to Christ. The gospel must come through the servants.”
Dale Spencer - Special Wednesday night study 8/3/83 - “And what is the flaming sword? Genesis 3:24 It is the Word of God and it is in the hands of the Servants. We have to come in through the Word of God.
Everett Swanson, personal conversation 1969 - “Scripture is not the Word of God until it is spoken by a worker.”
Tharold Sylvester, The Bellingham Herald 8/20/83 - “We ask God direct. That’s getting heavenly wisdom. We get it down from above, not out of a book.”
Eldon Tenniswood, Elder’s Meeting, CA - Bible dictionaries give us quite a little information about different nations, customs and people. We must be careful what we read and study. Does it agree with the teaching of the Holy Scripture? Why do we use the King James Version? We believe it is the best translation of the Bible. There are other translations that might help us to understand some verses better but according to our brother and fellow worker, Anton Koutsourelis, who was a professor of English before he began in the ministry in Greece, the King James Version is the best translation.”
Everett Wilcox - Personal letter 1/9/84 - “There would be many saved people if the written word could give life, but it takes the Living Words (the workers) to produce life that is eternal.”
(6.)....................QUOTES ON THE BIRTH OF CHRIST or CHRISTMAS
Senior worker Special Meeting - “Christmas is a pagan holiday.”
(7.)....................QUOTES ON BLASPHEMY
Brother worker, private conversation - “Blasphemy is when someone speaks against the Holy Spirit in the lives of His Servants.”
(8.)....................QUOTES ON THE BLOOD OF JESUS
Andrew Abernathy - Saginaw, Oregon Convention - “Do not expect the blood of Christ to cleanse us until we cleanse ourselves. There are four ways in which we can be cleansed. 1. We cleanse ourselves. 2. We are cleansed by the Holy Spirit. 3. We are cleansed by the Word of God. 4. We are cleansed by the precious blood of Jesus. All four are very, very necessary for all of us to make it right to have the right attitude towards sin.
Rose Ella Behrend - Olympia, WA 1970 - “The price that Jesus paid that He could be one with His Father. This is the price we all must pay.”
John Beth - 1968 - “Often times we come into contact with people in the world today who feel the blood of Christ is going to make atonement for everything. If all Jesus was to do was shed His blood, He could have done that in a very short time; but He had a work to do even before He shed His blood. He spent something like 33 ½ years giving his life to make plain and clear to this world, once and for all, what was Truth, and what was right and acceptable in the sight of God…..His ministry and meetings in the home.”
William Carroll - Crocknacrieve, Ireland August 12, 1909 - “”The devil has deluded people all over the world into believing they are saved by the Blood when they have no right to even mention His name.”
Edward Cooney - “To get the blood of Christ you must first pour out your own blood and have it replaced little by little.”
John Forbes - Milltown, WA 1952 - “The blood of Jesus can only cleanse us when we offer our bodies as a whole burnt offering, as we follow the workers in total self denial.”
Jack Forbes - Milltown Convention 1952 - “What did the priest do with the blood? He poured it out at the base of the altar. The difference between God’s interpretation of the blood and the Pharisee (Christian) interpretation which I was taught is that I thought that we had nothing to do but believe upon Christ hanging on the cross. The older I get the more I value the Blood of Christ, but we shouldn’t fool ourselves because the blood of Jesus can only cleanse us when we offer our bodies as a whole burnt offering.” Romans 12:1-2 ***(Romans 12:1-2 speaks of our bodies as living offerings given in the act of service or worship…not to obtain salvation. Our own bodies cannot atone for anything.)***
William Irvine - “Christ’s blood was no different than the blood of any man!”
Jack Jackson - Milltown, WA 1924 - “I am very thankful for the blood that brought about the reconciliation and that cleanses me everyday I walk in THE WAY.”
Rose Johnson - 1988 - “I wouldn’t depend on the blood of Christ to save me. It takes more than that.”
Anton Koutsourelis, Chelan Convention, WA 1981 - “When we try to obey, then the blood cleanses us. When we stop practicing the Word of God, then the blood of Jesus stops. As we try, the blood makes the cleansing perfect and complete.”
Lyle Van Kuren - “Jesus shed His Blood and suffered for us that we should follow His steps.”
Howard Mooney - Portland, OR - “God doesn’t take anyone into a prepared eternity unless they work to get there. It is the life, not the blood that saves you.”
Howard Mooney, Bozeman, MT 1970 June 3, 1970 funeral service for Annie Lyness - “The separation comes first, then the washing of the blood of the Lamb. You could not have access to the efficiency of that blood without first of all being willing for the separation.”
Howard Mooney - Salmon Arm Convention 1966 - “It is the life, not the blood that saves you. You have to be worthy of the blood.”
Walter Pollock - Spokane, WA 1983 - “Trusting in the Blood is the wrong thing. It will only bring disillusionment.”
Berniece Pieper - 1970 - “Titus 2:14 “He redeemed us from all iniquity…His blood had to flow to redeem us and cleanse us from human thinking.”
Leo Stancliffe - 1981 - “My hope of salvation is the blood of Christ, But I would like to explain to you what it means. The blood of Christ is the ministry without a home and the church in the home. Without the New Testament ministry you don’t have the blood of Christ which includes the church in the home. The forgiveness of sins is a fringe benefit.”
Leo Stancliff - Special meeting Los Angeles - “There is not one word in the Bible that says we are saved by the Blood of Christ. The reason Christ came to earth was to teach us how to live.”
Tharold Sylvester - Parma, ID 1960 - “They have got to come in. They have to be inside. When people are brought inside of the family of God they know the shelter and protection of His blood and they can eat of that lamb. They were to eat the lamb with their shoes on their feet and their loins girded and a staff in their hands. God wanted them to be ready and willing to walk. The world today reaches that all that is necessary to save people is that the blood of Christ be shed for them. They take the blood outside, but the blood of Christ only avails for those inside. 1 John 1:7 Will that blood cleanse you if you are not walking in the Light? Three is no evidence in the scripture that it will. It is conditional and that is why the blood of the bullock offering was taken inside but the body was taken outside and burned. Wouldn’t it take a pretty good fire to burn it? Wouldn’t it cast quite a light? We are trying to get people to walk in the light of Christ’s sacrifice. The body Jesus lived and taught and manifested. And when they accept that, the blood of Christ will cleanse them. That is the difference between the false gospel and the true gospel.” ***(cart before the horse)***
Tharold Sylvester - 1960 - “The blood of Christ only avails for those inside the TRUTH.”
Tharold Sylvester, Devon, MT June 25, 1978 - “The religious world puts emphasis on the death of Christ. God would have allowed Jesus to be slain by Herod as a baby if that were true. The Lord wanted to show us His life, how to live, how to serve, how to minister, how to love, how to invest time.”
Archie Turner - Chelan, WA 1961 - “There are three ways to cleanse ourselves. We must cleanse ourselves. The Word cleanses us and then there is the best cleansing of all. The provision made in the precious blood of Christ. This is the heavenly provision made that we might be cleansed from that which we ourselves could never cleanse ourselves from, so that we might be able to stand spotless before the Lord. His blood will cleanse us from all sin.
Warren Wainwright - “We do believe in the Blood of Christ. It has not been talked about enough in the past. The Blood is a part of the gospel but reconciliation is through this ministry. The workers are the mediators.”
Rhodesian worker - 1927 - “Were not the Apostles saved without the Blood?”
(9.)....................QUOTES ON BORN AGAIN
Barry ? - Personal Conversation - “The only way to be saved is to profess and be faithful your whole life.”
Bob Dye - August 2, 1966 - “To be born again means to receive Christ which means receiving the messenger, the message, and the Spirit of God equals obedience to the Will of God.” ***(false gospel)***
Percy Fletcher, Olympia Convention 1957 - “Some of us who have tried to help people have suffered because we haven’t tried to help people in the right order. We have been more concerned about an open decision than preparing people for the new birth. The sacrifice comes first, then the light is seen.”
Jeff Reid - 1983 - ”Self denial is the part of our service that brings eternal life.” Arnold Blonke, Glenn Valley convention Aug. 4, 1988
Jeff Reid - Gospel Meeting 10/1/83 - “It takes a new nature to be born again – human ability and goodness is godliness and revelation.”
Tharold Sylvester - “Sometimes we talk to people who claim to have been born again. But it was only an emotional experience. You can’t be born again except through God’s True Messengers.”
Charles Wells - “The way to be born again is you make your choice in meeting and you start walking and keep on walking in the Way. At some point in time you will become born again. It is possible to lose out so you must keep your eyes on Christ.”
“It takes a new nature to be born again.”
(10.)....................QUOTES ON CHARITY
Elders wife 1987 Portland, OR - “Life is too short to get all taken up with the poor and needy. We can’t serve God and help the poor, too. People like Mother Teresa are too concerned about natural life….it is just worldly.”
A newly professing lady was talking to her elder’s wife about wanting to give a birthday party for an unprofessing neighbor lady whom she loved. The elder’s wife indignantly replied, “Why! I just don’t have time for my neighbors. I am too busy with more important things!”
An elderly 2x2 professing woman - 1980 - “I never give more than two dollars at a time to the workers because I don’t want to tempt them with too much money.”
A professing family was on the way to gospel meeting and they saw an elderly couple with a flat tire by the side of the road. The suggestion was made that they stop to help them but the reply was, “No! We can’t stop to help anyone. We are going to meeting!”
- The way to status in the group is to give the workers lots of money or to will one’s property to them.)
- All time and expense must be given to the workers.
(11.)....................QUOTES ON 'CHRISTIAN'
Jack Carroll - San Bernadino, CA Feb. 19, 1956 - “To me the New Testament definition of Christianity is ‘Christ living His life over again in Christians…Christ in us...”
Jack Carroll - Mellowdale Convention Alberta 1953 - “Christianity is not a creed or sect or denomination or a society of men and women held together by rules and regulations. It is a life.
Eldon Tenniswood - March 10, 1985 Los Angeles, CA Special Meeting - “The word Christian means “Christ in”. Only professing people are true Christians. You must receive the Lord and you do this through the power of one of us.”
(12.)....................QUOTES ON CREATION
Dennis Einboden - Glen Valley Convention, BC August 4, 1988 - “God created this world and it wasn’t a fit place to live so he re-created it. He created man but they weren’t fit so he recreated them.”
(13.)....................QUOTES ON THE CROSS
Jack Carroll - “The emblem of the cross is a Catholic tradition. It was not used by the early Christians. They hated the cross. To them it meant suffering and shame. It is a murder weapon. Would any of you ever wear a gun around your neck for a decoration?”
Senior worker - July 19, 1966 - “So many would rather wear a cross that to bear a cross.”
Tharold Sylvester - “The cross is an idol to many people. God’s people don’t want to be associated with that symbol.”
(14.)....................QUOTES ON THE CRUCIFIXION OF CHRIST
Jack Forbes - Milltown Convention. - “The Lamb gave His life to show us what is right (the ministry) and He shed His blood to make us right. We don’t need to worry about the blessing. We need to worry about the condition whereby we get the blessing, for every cleansing rests upon a condition. The blood of Jesus can only cleanse us when we offer our bodies as a whole burnt offering.”
(15.)....................QUOTES ON DISPENSATIONS
Tharold Sylvester, Olympia WA - “Jesus Christ, the same, yesterday, today and forever. There is no such things a dispensations.”
(16.)....................QUOTES ON DIVORCE
Divorce is considered to be the unforgivable sin, therefore many people raised in the group are afraid to marry and often simply choose to live with someone. They don’t go to meeting but they still try to live so that maybe some day they can go back to meetings. This topic has caused suicides, emotional breakdowns and forced people to stay in physically abusive marriages. The workers do not agree on this issue. Some workers have excommunicated many people because of divorce.
“Being married is second best. It is better to become a worker or to be single.”
“What God has joined together let no man put asunder."
(17.)....................QUOTES ON DOCTRINE
(There is a set of 2x2 doctrines but the younger workers aren't taught what it is, beyond the meeting in the home and the 2x2 ministry. The senior workers caution younger workers not to speak on certain topics. The older workers are very careful around anyone who has biblical understanding because they don't want to reveal their heresies. They warn the friends and workers to "be wise as serpents and harmless as doves" and actually train them not to answer questions but to be gentle and softspoken while evading questions. Their method of evasion is to make statements such as : "Well the Bible says.....quote a verse. or "I believe....." Or..."What do you think that means?" or they will make a joke or sarcastic remark to deflect the topic somewhere else. In this manner they can imply that their doctrine agrees with the Bible or they can say what they believe without running the risk of getting into trouble. They sometimes will tell what they believe in private, but they have to tell only what the head worker allows in the meetings. The workers claim that the scripture is the authority but then they supercede scripture by imposing their own statements in a disclaimer and negating what the scripture says. Or they will make up an allegorical explanation of scripture, thereby negating what scripture has said.
The workers do not teach what the Bible says but rather what they want taught:
-
All respect given to them,
-
A perpetuation of their lifestyle,
-
Their little kingdom on earth.
They claim to be the sole possessors of true knowledge of scripture, regardless of scripture. The workers twist simple Bible comments into commands and the Bible's firm promises into conditional hopes.
It isn't the younger workers' fault that they don't know anything about Biblical doctrines. If they tried to understand the Bible by a systematic study, they would be reprimanded and forced out of the ministry.)
(This is their doctrine: We have no name, no organization, no church buildings, the ministry does not marry, we take no collections, we have no TVs, the women wear no makeup, or long pants, we don’t dance, we don’t do charity work, we don’t drink, we don’t smoke, we don’t play sports, don’t mingle with the world, we don’t believe in the same God that Christians believe in, we don’t believe anyone else is saved except those who profess through the workers and stay faithful to them and attend meetings all their lives.)
Paul Abenroth, Seattle, WA 1967 "We have no set doctrine."
Fred Allen, 1989 - "Christ had a human nature, too. He was a man."
Alan Ashmore, Gospel meeting 10/17/65 "The amount of holiness you have is the amount of God's Spirit in your life."
Brother Worker - “There is no written material on our doctrine. We stand alone on the King James Version. That is our only written word.” March 26, 1985 personal conversation in Putram, Connecticut. ***(misleading statement)***
Willie Brown - Oakland Special Meeting - February 29, 1946 - We think of the homes where the children of God are gathered together for worship, and where those two emblems are setting, not feeling that we can talk glibly and foolishly but we realize that we are in the place where the children of God "gather" on the first day of the week. Oh, that those homes may be kept free from defilement. Maybe there is a son or daughter there, one that might bring something into that home that would make it a little more unworthy than worthy. Oh, I say to you elders that you should keep that home so that there would be an atmosphere that would be a stimulent to every servant and child of God that enters.
Dean Bruer - “We are more than just a body who do things a certain way. We seek to renounce the things that Jesus renounced such as salaries, church buildings, collections for the ministry, etc.”
Jack Carroll - "The church in the home and the preacher without a home are vital."
Jack Carroll - “Doctrine is the cause of dissension among people all through the ages.”
Jack Carroll - “The Bible is our doctrine. We get our doctrine on our knees. We don’t believe in headucation, but heartucation.”
Jack Carroll, Hayden Lake, ID 1950 "We are neither Catholic or Protestant. The Catholics broke away from the Truth when men were lifted up against the simplicity of Christ's example ministry. Then the Protestants broke away from the Catholics. We are the original New Testament church." ***(False Statement)***
Jack Carroll - "The only temple in the universe today is the body of man. God did not want His people building church buildings."
Herbert Childers, Seneca, Illinois Convention, August 16-19, 1973 - Sunday P.M. - "There are 3 other memorials and one is this homeless stranger ministry. One is meeting in the home and the third is the emblems that we take on Sunday morning. These three memorials are left behind to show truth in the world. Wherever you go in the religious world, you see a ministry contrary to that, and they gather in a public building; but God's way in every age is a homeless ministry, a ministry like our Master, that brings God to man and we were thankful to see so many last night stand to their feet as an indication they were willing to walk in God's way and they understand a little of what it means to be a true Christian. Then there is meeting in the home, of a family who have a home at the disposition of God's people where they could meet; it is a home where Jesus is the Master. We are glad to form a church in a home where Jesus is the Master. Few people would know what you mean if you said, "The Master said......" They would say, "What Master?" For they have many masters. But a child of God has only one Master. Then there are the emblems, the bread and the wine. That bread represents truth - - that life of Jesus. He said, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life and no man comes to the Father but by me." And with the juice of the grape is the mercy of God, in cleansing and forgiveness of His people. Those 3 memorials are left in the world today to guide us in the way of Truth. These memorials have spoken to me. They are familiar to you, but God doesn't want you to forget them as long as you live."
Eddie J. Cornock - "Consider these simple things which God has planned...The church in the home, the preachers without a home...these are the bulwarks of God's Work in the world today."
Sproulie Denio - "As we have often heard there are two basic truths in the New Testament. One is a preacher without a home, and the other is a church in the home."
Jack Forbes - "Convention is time to take stock where really stand in God's sight. Nothing more dangerous than a self-sufficient spirit, feeling need of nothing."
Jenith Hamon, 1984 - "Jesus is not God."
Ruth Henderson, Boring OR 1988 "In these meetings we will be hearing the same teaching, the same doctrine that Jesus taught."
Mark Huddle, Kelso, WA 1978 "Frankly, I don't know what the doctrine is."
Joyce - “Knowledge is bad but wisdom is good.”
Anton Koutsourelis, Chelan Convention WA 1981 - “What is sound doctrine? It is everything Jesus said in the four gospels to do and to avoid to do. Not going further than the words of Jesus. The denominations and religions which want to make the Way wide and wider. The Lord says NO. The way is Narrow and must be kept narrow. Do according to the Word of God. The Lord is the Teacher who says to do, how to do and how to speak and how to dress and how to be in our life in all cases. The victory is to keep the sound doctrine.”
Personal letter from a sister worker - “In Acts 5 the apostles were told by the angel to speak all the words of this life. He didn’t call it a doctrine or a law, but a life.
Willie Pollock, Glen Valley Convention BC 8/4/88 "Our doctrine is on file in Havana, Cuba, because we were investigated because the Cuban government could not understand how or why this was held together. And God's work may have to go underground again. But today there is a tree of fellowship." ***(misleading statement…..their beliefs have always been secret, even to themselves)***
- (A great deal is said from time to time about this church being underground. They use the underground theory to justify why they can't point to their group prior to William Irvine. It is doubtful that the workers gave the Cuban government any doctrinal statements. The Cuban government was probably investigating the workers' financial activities or to see if they were a front for political activism. Why would they give the Cuban government a copy of their doctrines when they won't even give it to their own young workers or professing members?)
Senior worker Gospel meeting 10/17/65 - “The amount of holiness you have is the amount of God’s Spirit in your life. You get the Holy Spirit by coming to meetings and by obeying what you hear.”
Ralph Sines, 11/3/65 Gospel meeting. "We shouldn't be as concerned about the interpretation of God's Word as we should be about the application of His Word."

Tharold Sylvester, Seattle, WA 1969 "God wants faith, not facts. We aren't saved by what we believe! We are saved by having the right Spirit!"
Tharold Sylvester, Seattle Special Meeting 1967, "They call us a Secret Sect! We are not secret. We are always here and always ready to tell others what we believe!"
Mike Thorsteinson - Kelso, WA 1978 - “Frankly, I don’t know what the doctrine is.”
Mike Thorsteinson personal letter 11/2/83 - “Our doctrine is not easily defined in intellectually appealing phrases, because it is a lifestyle produced by the indwelling Spirit of Christ. It begins not with an education but with God’s given revelation, that faith of those who experience it would not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”
George Walker, personal conversation Putram, CT "There is no written material on our doctrine. We stand alone on the King James version. That is our only written Word."
(18.)....................QUOTES ON EDUCATION
William Irvine’s first attacks were against Religion, Education, Politics, Fancy Clothing and Money. He rarely talked about God’s definition of sin.
Dan Hilton - 1979 - “Parents! Don’t sacrifice your children on the altar of Education!”
Willie Jameison - Chelan Convention 1954 - “You rich professing people will have to learn to keep your hands out of your pockets and you EDUCATED people have to learn to keep your mouths shut.”
Willie Jameison - “You will never learn anything by Bible study. The only way you get understanding is on your knees.”
Tharold Sylvester - “It took 40 years in the back side of the desert to get the EDUCATION OF EGYPT out of Moses.”
(19.)....................QUOTES ON ETERNAL SECURITY
Haaken Ausenhus - II Boring Convention, Boring, OR 9/1/79 - “If God can’t improve us, He will remove us.
Olympia Convention - 1970 - “One can lose out at any time! We need to submit every day. We need to get to every meeting. If we don’t make it to Convention, we may not make another year. We must hang on.”
Duane Hopkins - Ronan Convention Montana 6/15/73 - “How big a sin does it take to lose our salvation? Not a very big one. One little error and excusing it becomes a sin of the Spirit and wickedness. There is forgiveness for weakness.”
Iris Jones - Oklahoma Special Meeting, OK 1976 - “We will lose out if we don’t go to this place. God’s Way is in the sanctuary.
(20.)....................QUOTES ON FAITH in the WORKERS, NOT CHRIST OR THE SCRIPTURES
Howard Mooney - 1976 and 1980 - “God gave us a mind and then asked us not to use it. Faith is unquestioning obedience. We purchase the Truth at our own expense. We purchase His mind by giving up our mind.”
Bruce Waddell - Glenn Valley Convention August 4, 1988 - “Faith cometh by hearing, not by reading. No one can receive salvation simply by reading the Bible. People must hear the workers.”
Jack Carroll - “We are the only church with a Faith Ministry. A Faith ministry means that the workers trust God for our natural needs.”
Eldon Tenniswood - “We are running a race. What is hindering us? Satan causing unbelief, doubt, lack of confidence in those that preach the gospel.”
Tharold Sylvester - “Don’t allow any reasoning in your own hearts to disturb your faith. We are not in the hands of one who is experimenting.”
Tharold Sylvester’s Letter sent to worker and elders in Alaska and Washington - “Conditions for Fellowship - April 12, 1990:
"Accepting the decision of the Elders of the Ministry as just and final, and encouraging others to do the same.”
Jim Brown - Walla Walla Convention, WA 1960 - “Faith is belief put into practice.”
Bill Shambaugh, Olympia ! Convention WA 8/26/79 - “Hold the Standard (lifestyle) high. We take the Faith by steps.”
Clem Geue - Oak Lodge Convention, Australia 11/79 - “People say they have faith but it is just a mental kind of faith. They believe that Jesus came and died but it does not affect them. Paul wrote to the Galatians and said, “nothing avails in Christ except a faith with works.’ It is love that makes faith work. How good it is if we have that love in our hearts that makes our faith a living faith. How good it is if we have got that love that makes faith work.”
Convention GEMS - 1962 - “Faith is delivered through the preaching of the Gospel. Faith is precious because two servants of God delivered it to you.”
(21.)....................QUOTES ON FORGIVENESS
Vernon Myers - 1 Olympia Convention Aug. 23, 1979 - “Acts 5:32 Forgiveness is only given to those who obey God by coming to the meetings, supporting His true ministers and living according to His Standards.”
(22.)....................QUOTES ON GOD THE FATHER
Susan Weichert - Spokane, WA 1981 - “God is our Father and Jesus is our elder brother. God is supreme. He and the Son planned Jesus’ coming. If just the blood was all that was needed, then Jesus could have died as a baby. It is the manner of his life that we need to see. The Lord has given the perfect WAY. His Spirit is like the road signs. It will guide us.”
Fred Allen - Post Falls Convention, Idaho 1989 - “God is our Father and Jesus is our elder brother.”
Willie Jameison - Walla Walla Convention 1960 - “Two Lord, Jesus Christ and God. But they are not One God. Jesus had a sinful nature but did not sin. His blood came from Mary, the seed of David.”
Jackie Meeks - Post Falls Convention, ID 1972 - Jesus had a sinful nature and the potential is there for us to overcome our flesh if we walk in His “Way.” He learned obedience through suffering. We can do the same. Obedience resulted in Jesus being made perfect. Our salvation results in obedience to the Father.”
Andrew Abernathy - Saginaw Convention, Oregon - “God is so anxious that men and women would understand perfectly what the TRUTH is all about that He sent His Son and for 33 ½ years he lived to show us what Truth is.” (The workers and the Way)
Dennis Einboden - Glenn Valley Convention Aug. 4, 1988 - “God created this world and it wasn’t fit to live in so He is going to re-create it. He created man but they weren’t fit, so He must re-create them.
Howard Mooney - Post Falls Convention 1986 - “Only God can change a life. Twelve things will happen if we allow God to change it. ***(He listed four things, then said, “This is the WAY we get saved, DOING these things.”*** This is a perfect example of saying one thing and then contradicting the first statement.)
Jenith Hamon - Spokane, WA August 1984 - “Jesus is NOT God.”
Sydney Holt, CA 1980 - “The Holy Spirit is not God.”
(23.)....................QUOTES ON GNOSTICISM
Udo Chapman - “Natural life and natural things are not important. Spiritual things are the only things that matter. Our only hope is in constantly being broken. We must be willing to make corrections or we will not see salvation and we may take other people with us.” ***(Natural corrections or spiritual corrections?!)***
(24.)....................QUOTES ON THE GOSPEL
June Affleck, Maroota Convention NSW 2006 "Children learn about investing from their parents, naturally and spiritually. As a boy, Jesus would have seen His parents reading and praying and at Jerusalem when He was 12 years old, perhaps the year He professed, He said He wanted to be about His Father's business."
Percy Birrille, Post Falls Convention 1959 "Blessing always follows obedience, joy follows sacrifice. Holiness is essential to the people of God. Without it no one can see God."
Willie Brown - Oakland Special Meetings - February 29, 1946 - John, an old man of 93, was on the Isle of Patmos - - alone, isolated, no contacts with others near him in the GOSPEL, no LETTERS, no MEETINGS, but God showed him "a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb."
Jack Carroll, "The 'repentance' which results from believing the Gospel of the Kingdom means a change of mind and purpose. It means turning from our old beliefs and following the ministry of Christ."
Jack Carroll, "The gospel is the New Testament ministry of the apostles and the meeting in the home."
Jack Carroll, "We have fulfilled the conditions that Jesus laid down in the Gospel. No man is justified in living by the Gospel apart from fulfilling these conditions. Our preachers live by the gospel."
Herbert Childers, Seneca, Illinois Convention, August 16-19, 1973 - Sunday P.M. - "Paul wrote to the Philippians about the defense and confirmation of the Gospel. It is easy to defend the Gospel. Men and women will stand up and defend it but they are not confirming it. It is a great privilege to be found defending it, holding it up, but it is greater to confirm it. It is a great privilege to be found defending and confirming it - - that is your life and mine. Confirming this word of God. People have lived this truth as you and I want to live it today. When others see it, they realize as someone said, "Why, that is just what the word of God teaches." What were they doing? They were confirming the Gospel. It is your privilege and mine day by day to confirm it. Live so our walk, our talk, our words and actions confirm this word of God.
Did you ever stop to think how you got the Gospel or where it came from? What is the Gospel? It is the precious life that came down from heaven 1900 years ago and came down to this world and He lived and died for you and me. People say, where did it come from? It came from heaven and it came in the life of the Son of God and in that life there is hope, in that life there is forgiveness and power to enable us to honor and glorify God in our lives these days.
Eddie Cooney, "The gospel for God's people is 'Behold your God.' The gospel is Matthew 10. The world is not willing for this gospel."
Conversation With Senior Workers ~ May 12, 1985 - “Billy Graham is representing the false gospel and is doing it to become a millionaire. We must shun this so called gospel. We must be very careful here in the New England area since this false prophet is coming to Hartford. We will reach the world before he does! We estimate our numbers to be about 450,000 for the United States and 600,000 to 700,000 worldwide.”
Shirley Doolittle, Gilroy Convention, CA 1981 "The gospel is the MEDIUM to introduce THE CHRIST to lost souls."
Jenith Hammon and Charlene Beck, personal conversation with professing person. August 1984 - “The gospel is the story of Jesus from the day he was born until the day he died.”
Dick Hare, elder - February 17, 1985 Millbury, Massachusetts, Fellowship meeting, “You must attend all meetings. This is part of our gospel. You can only hear the gospel through the spoken word of our workers. Perhaps then you can be saved.”
Sydney Holt - personal letter 1/17/80 - “The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the message of Good News that Jesus brought to mankind.”
Bob Ingram, 1959 - "Jesus was not a priest, or a servant, but just a man doing God's will."
William Irvine, "The word 'gospel' means God in a man speaking."
Willie Jamieson, - "Jesus never made one single mistake, a marvelous example."
David Jennings, Devon, MT Convention "It is a miracle when men, women, boys and girls are brought to the place of dependency, in this age of independency. that is what brings people time after time to listen to the gospel (the workers message) and it finally brings them to the place of letting God do what they could never do for themselves."
Rose Johnson "Anything a worker says is the gospel."
Fred Keller, Saginaw Convention 1962 "Every meeting should be a gospel meeting where the gospel or doctrine of Christ is taught."
Cynthia Matson - Atwater, CA 1987 - “The word Gospel means good news. As the gospel is preached by those that line up with Christ; that is how people get saved. It was the plan of God to use His servants who are in line with the prophets and the apostles, by those who are sent. The conditions are to forsake all and preach the gospel freely according to Matthew 10.”
Jackie Meeks, 1972 - "Jesus had a sinful nature."
Howard Mooney - “Three heavens or Three Hells. 1977 - “You might ask what is the greatest difficulty we have in presenting the gospel? It is finding words to convey the wonderfulness of this way. It is too wonderful to describe. That might help you to understand why it is so hard to give your testimony. When you talk to the neighbors about the Truth, you are tongue tied.! You are talking about something too wonderful for the human heart to describe.”
Leo Stancliff, 1981 - "My hope of salvation is the blood of Christ. But I would like to explain to you what it means. The blood of Christ is the ministry and the church in the home. Without the New Testament ministry, you don't have the blood of Christ which includes the church in the home. The forgiveness of sins is a fringe benefit."
Eldon Tenniswood, "The gospel is the ministry of the workers and the meeting in the home. You must attend all meetings. That is part of our gospel. You can only hear the gospel through the spoken word of our workers. Perhaps then you can be saved.
Warren Wainwright, 1988 - "We believe in the Blood of Christ. It has not been talked about enough in the past. The Blood is a part of the gospel but reconciliation is through this ministry. The workers are the mediators."
C. Wright - Post Falls Convention - “Jesus will beget a new life in us through the Gospel. It refreshes us. God gives this Spirit to people when their lives are prepared by the Gospel. Then we have cleansing when we are willing to walk in this light or this covenant if we have received Christ into our lives.”
Gordon Winkler, Glenn Valley Convention, August 12, 1990 - "Peter and John, when they were telling the gospel story, they were living the gospel first of all. They were men who, like Jesus, had given up everything that they had; given it to the poor, and had gone out as homeless, stranger preachers for the gospels sake. And I just love to think of this - these basic truths that are so vital in our salvation, and have stayed the same from the beginning of time. There's no other way, there's no other way. "
(The real problem is that the workers and friends DON’T KNOW what the gospel is. They think the gospel is their method of living and preaching.)
“The gospel is anything that a worker says.” Rose Johnson
“The gospel is the New Testament ministry of the apostles and the meeting in the home.” Jack Carroll 1955
“The gospel for God’s people is, ‘Behold your God.” Eddie Cooney
“The gospel is God in a man speaking.” William Irvine
“We enter this heavenly family here on earth by adoption. The people who adopt naturally choose the child. In the spiritual family WE make the choice.” Mable Sill Post Falls Convention
“Christ suffered for us, leaving us an example that ye should follow His steps. Jesus left those steps marking God’s perfect highway and today we are not looking for anything else!” Lloyd Njos Medford, OR 1978
(25.)....................QUOTES ON GRACE
(As in every other doctrine the workers twist or lie about what Christians believe. They tell people that Christians believe something that they don't believe. As in their explanation of the Trinity; the same is true about the doctrine of Grace. The workers' definition of Grace is different that the Bible definition.)
Zoe Ann Clinton - Post Falls Convention 1967 - “Grace is that from Christ which enables us to do what we wouldn’t do and couldn’t do by nature.”
Dick Hare, elder, Millbury, Massachusetts fellowship meeting. "You can only receive saving grace through the works that you do throughout your life and become a true professing person through the workers. If you've proven yourself a faithful servant then you may be received."
Dick Middleton, Devon, MT 1977 "Grace only can help people in a moment. Grace to help in time of need. God can't help someone unless he is trying himself. God helps those that help themselves."
Howard Mooney, Santee CA "It says of the grace of Christ: 'Of all His fullness have we received, and grace for grace.' Everything that God has placed at the disposal of His Son Jesus, He has placed at the disposal of you and me. And through that medium (of the ministry) we are able to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. When we talk to the world about following Jesus and God's plan for us to do so, they say, 'It is impossible, He was the Son of God and we are just the creatures of dust.' Well, we might be a creature of the dust to start with, but you put your trust in the Lord, you rejoice in the Lord, you commit your way to the Lord, and God will place at your disposal everything He placed at the disposal of His Son Jesus Christ. We are heirs of God, joint-heirs with Christ. and have close fellowship with Him as we walk in the Way."
Tharold Sylvester, "Grace is the ability God gives us to do His will."
Eldon Tenniswood, "I wouldn't trust the Grace of God to save me. It takes more than that."
Mike Thorsteinson - Seattle, WA 1983 - “Salvation by grace implies that man need do nothing before or after. That is a false doctrine. It takes more than God’s grace and trusting in Christ’s blood to save us! We must submit to God’s Standards of the Kingdom.”
Sister worker - private conversation - “Grace is that damned Baptist doctrine!!!”
Dorothy Wright - Post Falls Convention, ID 1961 - “Grace can come into our lives through obedience to God.”
(26.)....................QUOTES ON HAIR
Bob Ingram - Olympia Convention - “It is just as much of a shame for a woman to have short hair as it is for a man to have long hair. We show that we are under subjection by the length of our hair. Women must be under subjection.”
Everett Swanson - When some sister workers complained about the rules for women’s hair to the brother workers, they were told, “Well, how do you think the men feel?! They have to be seen with the women!”
(27.)....................QUOTES ON HEAVEN
- (Heaven is rarely mentioned)
Jack Carroll - 12/3/44 - “The children of God do not go to the ultimate and final heaven at death. That ultimate and final heaven will be theirs at the resurrection.”
Jack Carroll 12/3/44 - “What is the unfinished work of Christ? It is intercession. This isn’t the Roman Catholic idea of prayers for the dead but the New Testament idea of those who have gone before --- praying for the living. Revelation 6:9 The New Testament idea is that those who have gone before are making intercession for us, having fellowship with Him in that intercession.
Howard Mooney - Olympia Convention - “Heaven will be just like our wonderful fellowship here at convention.”
Irvine Pierson - funeral for George Walker, North Wales, Pennsylvania, 11/10/81 - “George (Walker) has gone into the eternal realm, asleep in Jesus ---- not like the natural sleep, but resting under the altar, conscious of the Lord’s presence.”
(28.)....................QUOTES ON HELL
William Irvine - founder, Crocknacrieve Convention, Northern Ireland, Impartial Reporter 7/18/07 page 8 - Hell is a place where everyone will be made to serve God in the Jesus Way.”
“Re-Creation,” Page 5 - “Hell is a Lake of Fire where the beast and false prophets are.
Bea Mookini - 4/10/85 - “Hell is a place god has prepared for those who don’t want to go to heaven. Hell is a place where God’s presence isn’t.”
- (Hell is rarely mentioned)
(29.)....................QUOTES ON HISTORY
Clarence Anderson, Pukekohe Conv., New Zealand, 1986."People ask us often times, 'Where did this doctrine start?' It first came to us over 60 years ago. I thought it started in Canada, because the one that brought the gospel to us was from Canada. We had never heard of it before, and we enquired of him, "Where did you hear this?" He said, 'We heard it from someone that came from Ireland or Scotland.' We listened to that Gospel. 'Where did it start?' It started in Heaven, and we are thankful that this Truth came from Heaven that we have accepted today."
Haakon Ausenhus, Parma, Idaho - June 17, 1988 - "During the dark ages, there was almost total falsity in the world churches. We don't need to know the historical evidence of how this way has been preserved. The proof is in The Way being preserved. It is the same; the miracle of the preserved Word of God. We don't need to know how or by whom it was preserved. But we do know of the harmony of God's Word and way."
Edward Blair - "I advise you to drop your investigation."
Doris Bloemker letter, 1989 - "In answer to your question, "Where did this religion actually begin? Was it with Jesus as we have always been told in Gospel Meetings, or by a man named William Irvine in 1897? We believe Hebrews 12:2 'Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.' I would like to give you some references that mean a lot to me as we carry the gospel to people and point them to something that is from the beginning and not to something begun by man. In John 17:5 Jesus spoke of the glory which He had with the Father before the world was, and in John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word", etc. So there is no date for the starting, as it was with the Heavenly Father before the world. Why would we want something started by a man when we have in the scripture something that is from the beginning and scripture to back it up?"
(Note: Fallacy of the strawman used. Proof was given for when the Word and the glory Jesus had with the Father started. This information is totally irrelevant to the question asked in the first two sentences.)
-
Woman asked one of the older brother workers if he had heard of William Irvine. The worker: "Well, I don't think I can talk about him..." The woman: "Well, have you heard of him or haven't you?" The worker: "I can't hear you very well, my hearing is getting so bad."
*"I have been aware of William Irvine's life and fall from truth since a child. This has been proof to me that this fellowship is greater than any man or group of men. It also upholds the integrity of the early workers as they rejected William Irvine and Ed Cooney."
Arnold Brown, September, 1988 York, NEBRASKA convention - "Don't worry about tracing the truth back. The Jews could trace to Abraham and it didn't mean a thing. God can raise up people from stones...we don't need to trace it back. When we see God's work in people, we know is it from him." In direct contradiction to what he said above, William Lewis also said, "Since early workers followed a Scottish preacher in Ireland before the turn of the 20th century, they have spent their lives traveling from home to home with little more than their clothes, Lewis said." Quoted from in the Minneapolis Star Tribune 11/2-/86. William Lewis stated in personal interview that he does not preach that one must hear two workers in this fellowship to be saved.
Willie Brown - Oakland Special Meeting - February 29, 1946 "Do you know, the ones that have helped us so much in the past, are coming near the end of their journey; but the work of God is not dependant upon any man, - - People ask us, "who started this?" It is born of God! It is not traceable to any man and we thank God for that!"
Harry Brownlee, October 29, 1995 Hunter, North Dakota Convention - "Some have asked when did this start? We don't know, but for my family it started in 1904 when two workers came to our door and my parents heard the gospel. We don't claim apostolic succession. What is this producing? That's confirmation of the true see. There's literature floating around. Do you know the thrust of these letters? To undermine your belief in the Bible."
Harry Brownlee, October 29, 1995 Hunter, North Dakota Convention - "But we said, when you believe the message that came originally from the homeland, this is what brings salvation."
Harry Brownlee - (Gospel Meeting) "If it could be proven to me in black and white that this church was started by a man, I would never preach another word."
Harry Brownlee quote in The Sentinel, Cottage Grove, Oregon 8/16/79 - "We're simply a continuation of the author of Truth."
Jack Carroll, "You can tell whether a church is a false church or not if it was started by a man or woman. We are the only church on earth that was started by Christ."
Calvin Casselman, Boring conv. 1988 - “We preach true doctrine. We go back to the beginning.”
Edward Cooney - Impartial Reporter 8/5/09 "We did not start this Jesus way...it was started and planned by God before we were ever thought of, and if you go any other way you will go to hell."
Edward Cooney, "We are not starting a new religion. We are earnestly contending for the faith once delivered to the saints and trying to separate it from the traditions of men, because there is not a doctrine in the word of God that has not been corrupted by the professing church." Within Impartial Reporter 10/7/09; Patricia Roberts in her book THE LIFE AND MINISTRY OF EDWARD COONEY Page 79
Jill Christiansen, Santee Convention 1980. - "As near as I can figure, since there are no church records in recent times, the truth came from England at the turn of the century."
Dennis Fenton (England Worker), Letter dated May 11, 1995. "In your letter you ask for information & knowledge of William Irvine. This is now/not common knowledge no one talks about these/those days. We are very glad to go back to Jesus and His simple teaching, which is good as John wrote to keep to what is from the beginning. There is so much in the world to confuse one, and we need the help & guidance of the Spirit, which Jesus said He will lead you into all Truth."
Joshua Gamble - About 10-15 years ago, an older worker from Scotland or Ireland, Joshua Gamble, spoke from the platform at Gilroy, CA convention regarding the origin or founder of the "truth." The American friends who were unaware there was any beginning to this fellowship other than the apostles, were quite shook up. (NOTE: Apparently where he labors in the work, it is common knowledge to the friends.)
Mary Hasper, Bellingham Herald - "I always say, don't criticize unless you have something better to offer. I haven't heard that they have anything better to offer."
Dan Hilton - "The way is like a seed, like the wheat seed. It was created at the beginning of the world."
Dan Hilton 1/1/84 Burlington, WA Sp. Mtg - "Also we are sometimes asked about the period between...the first century and the present twentieth century. Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. We have no written records on earth of God's work in the world during this period. God's records are written in heaven, Malachi 3:16, Luke 10:20, Rev. 20:12. Any who would suggest a written genealogy record is necessary between the first and twentieth century would fall into the category of 1 Tim. 1:3-4. 'that thou might charge some that they teach no other doctrine. Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.'" { Note: The history of this fellowship is only 99 years old, hardly qualifying it as "endless genealogy."}
Dan Hilton, 1/1/84 Burlington, WA Special Meeting, "We are often asked who started this church? Hebrews 12:2 'Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith...' Jesus gave us God's eternal plan of salvation in its fullness. He is both the author and finisher." Note: Used Strawman Fallacy. "Our faith" in Christ is a different thing entirely from "this church" which the question concerned."
Dan Hilton 1/1/84 Burlington, WA Special Meeting - "I consider that we are the most privileged people in all the world for the simple reason that what we believe and stand for and teach doesn't have its origin with man. You don't go back into the history of the world to find it. You have to go back to the beginning and to God. God had this plan in his heart and mind before the foundation of the world was laid. This way of service is from the beginning."
Dan Hilton 1/1/84 Burlington, WA Special Meeting - Letter: "Then we are sometimes asked, 'Why don't you speak of older ministers of the faith of Jesus in past generations?' God's answer to this questions is found in 2 Cor. 4:5, 'For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your servants for Jesus sake.' So, it is not the will of God for us to be preaching about ministers of past generations. We preach Christ."
Dan Hilton Burlington Special Meetings January 1, 1984 “Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. We have no written records on earth of God’s work in the world during this period (between 1st century and the present 20th century)... God’s records are written in heaven.”
Dan Hilton, Letter 11/21/89, End of Letter - "However, irregardless of a written record being preserved, truth is truth. If nobody believes it and/or...if everybody believes it...Whether or not a thing is believed in has nothing to do with its correctness. To use a parable illustration, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. That is an established fact of existence. Whether or not people believe the sun rises in the east and sets in the west...in no way changes that established fact of reality... Everybody could believe the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, but this would not make it true. For anyone to say that what the Bible teaches was started at some certain year since the first century is pitiful ignorance, and closing the eyes to established facts and truths. The teachings of the New Testament were started in the first century when God's dear Son was here on earth; that is, those truths were established in a group of believers then. But that is not where it started. What was given by God through his Son was planned before the world began. See Matt 15:34-35, John 17:24, Acts 3:20-21, Rom. 16:25-26, 1 Cor 2:7, Eph 1:4-5, 2 Tim. 1:0, Titus 1:2, 1 Peter 1:18-21. These truths make very clear that what God...the Son of God...and the Holy Spirit believe in, and what God's true ministers and Christians believed in, was planned in the heart and mind of God before the world began, and we believe the same today. So it is 100% false for anyone to say that what we believe was started in some recent year."
Pat Hockett 1979: Elder worker preached at Olympia convention that "ever so often the "truth" dies out, and God seeks for another man to bring it back into the world."
Kathleen Holland “If anybody asks you about Eddie Cooney, you tell them no such person ever existed.”
Sydney Holt - Letter of Sydney Holt, June 27, 1985 - "Ireland is the only country where workers weren't imported, but rather exported."
Merlin Howlett - In 1988, Merlin Howlett stated at Milltown convention, "In just the past 88 years we have had the privilege of convention. 88 years ago there wasn't one convention on earth. Now there are 126 conventions.
Garrett Hughes made numerous references from convention platforms in his last years relative to the "truth" being started at the turn of the century. Garrett Hughes said at the Funeral Service for Erling Omdal, 10/6/87, Eagle Bend, MN: "Ninety years ago, a letter came from Ireland. We heard about those with no home, no name, etc. Forty people made their choice. Sixteen went out in the work - that was the beginning...There is not a country not open to the gospel now. It is the most marvelous thing ever to happen." ("Ninety years ago" = 1987 Minus 90 years = 1897! It jibes with the facts!)
Irving Ross - Overseer of Ohio & West Virginia at Bradley, Oklahoma convention on October 26,1997 - "Some were going out, we read about that, said they went out from us, that it might be manifested that they are not of us, they cease to exercise strength in Christ, and a belief that the willingness to habitat flesh in their lives, then to question it, Wonder about its beginning, I suppose, where it started, how it started, I suppose, began to think , well ya know, what you are believing with that man, ah, and he is going to get killed and about another thirty years he lived it and then he died but, he is still gone, he is not alive. And then, what you’re believing, is, be about 100 (one hundred) years old. But what we’re believing in, especially those from the Jews and other people, who are believing in something a lot older that. I tell you what we believe in goes back further that.
Well, the people who have got a revelation of the Truth that is in Jesus,
NEVER TRIED TO FIND COMFORT OR HAVE NO REASON TO TRY TO FIND COMFORT IN TRYING TO TRACE ITS BEGINNING IN THE EARTH.
Because it’s not where it began. But we’re rather fortunate, we’ve lived a few years and we’ve known some that lived quiet a few years before they passed from time into eternity, they had a part in preaching the gospel. They could tell us a lot of that experience, sometimes we call’em the earlier days of their experience.God put it into their hearts to feel after him, and to seek after him, and to find and began to believe in a WAY like Jesus taught. But I NEVER HEARD ONE of them say That was when it began. (This Ross quote has not had the spelling corrected......It is disjointed, rambling, boring)

A brother worker who read "The Secret Sect", stated that it's factually sound from what he already knew, except for a few minor details; his knowledge came from older workers who personally knew William Irvine.
Willie Jamieson, Post Falls Conv., 1957 "We aren't believing in a religion. We are believing in a life. The life of God and His Son...Everything that is false has a definite origin--a man who started it. Wesley started the Methodist; Joseph Smith started the Mormons; Mary Baker Eddy started the Christian Scientist. This is the only way that was started by Christ."
Donald Karnes In 1984, he wrote from Germany: "Two outstanding events mark the 20th century: 2 rebirths. First, the rebirth of the Truth. God pouring out His spirit upon all flesh. The resurgence of His work in the world. Elizer (the servant) was commissioned to seek a Bride. The Gospel call: Prepare to meet the Bridegroom. Make ready for the marriage. Second: the rebirth of the Jewish national out of the ruin heaps of Europe. These two events are going on at the same time. "
Eldon Kendrew in personal visit with Mitchells 6/4/95 - "It's like a seed. No, better yet, it's like your great-grandmother's recipe. You are looking through your great-grandmother's recipe box and you find a recipe for what you think is a cake that she used to always make that was just wonderful and you wonder, "Is this the one?" So you make it and YES! It tastes just exactly the same. It doesn't matter if the recipe has been lost in the box for years and years; you know that it is the recipe for the same cake because it tastes the same."
Eldon Kendrew in personal visit with Mitchells 6/4/95 - "Look at it like this. I have no idea who my great-great-grandfather was, but I know that he had to exist, because here I am today. We know how life begets life and it is the same spiritually. I do not believe in some form of apostolic succession--that would be like the Catholic church. People might build their faith on that, but I would like to believe that the friends and ministry did come down through history that way. "

An ex-worker said when he was first in the work, he received a long document (probably: A Spiritual Fraud by Doug Parker) containing information about the beginning of this fellowship. When he asked his older companion Fred Kinglake whether or not it was true, Fred said, "I can't say that it's not true."
Iowa gospel meeting, 1995: "We cannot trace this back through the ages! and that is good, for if we could, that would destroy our faith."
Ben Klepzig - "It was before my time, (Ben) Klepzig says, 'No one here claims to have started it.'" Owner of Georgetown, Texas, convention grounds, The Sunday Sun, Georgetown, Texas July 14, 1991.
David Leonhardt ~ Personal Communication, Summer 1996 - "Oh, no, this way didn't start 95 year ago. It started in the very heart of God."
Lorraine Lerwick, "It doesn't really matter. All that matters is that we are building on the same foundation as Christ, and we know we are."
William Lewis says there is no one founder or group of founders that this church...can trace its lineage to. 'Not to my knowledge,' Lewis says. 'We don't treat genealogical records as being purposeful. What would it mean to me if I could prove I'm a descendant of Abraham?'" quote of William Lewis, The Sunday Sun, Georgetown, Texas, July 14, 1991.
William Lewis, quote from in the Minneapolis Star Tribune 11/2-/86. "Since early workers followed a Scottish preacher in Ireland before the turn of the 20th century, they have spent their lives traveling from home to home with little more than their clothes, Lewis said."
Dellas Linaman, Convention in Australia, November, 1996 - "Some people are saying that this fellowship began in Ireland, 100 years ago. Well, that's true, but what's important is OUR beginning - when WE (personally) first found Jesus."
Cheryl Lumley - Canadian sister worker - letter to Mitchells."Don't you believe that something so precious to God could be preserved and passed on thru his beloved mouthpieces over any age and time?? God's Way is ETERNAL!"
Roddy MacLean (Scotland Worker) Letter dated June 1, 1995 - "I never met Wm Irvine at any time and believe he was used of God, but was never the origin of what we believe. I understand he became too big in himself and left the fellowship we love. Workers I know and respect preach only what Jesus lived and taught with no mention at all of Wm Irvine or any other man save only real appreciation for those who retell in our day things taught in Jesus day. This faith began in New Testament days, not in Ireland nor in the U.K."
Alfred Magowan in Testimony of a Witness for the Defence 1/13/56 - "And even if all that he (Doug Parker) dug out of the graves of our 60 year history was true: would that justify exhumation?"
Ned Manning, worker-Irish descent. "This way started in Galilee."
Gordon McNabb (SS), "Irvine's founding role is of little consequence, for we alone follow the true pattern of the original apostles, and the early church."
Howard Mooney - "Personally, I have never been taken up with endless genealogies, or other things that Paul warned against in I Tim. 1:3-4. My satisfaction is in the fact that the Lord has given to me all that he has promised."
Bea Moonkini - (Visit with Bea Moonkini, 1985) - "Was William Irvine the first in the way?" "I don't know. I think he was amongst the first...""So you would confirm that the way only goes back...""No...I believe it was started from God back in the very beginning of time. And between Malachi and Matthew there is no record of God's people, you might say, but I don't feel God's Way was ever done away with. I feel that God has had a way on the earth since before the foundation of the earth. I don't believe William Irvine is the beginner of it." "Do you know of anyone prior to him?" "No, I don't."
Walter Nelson, Post Falls Conv. 1967 - "It's from the beginning, planned in God's mind before creation."
Sherlene Oldham, Ex-worker, Letter 1991 - "Some say that God's truth was revived or started over or began in the early 1900's. This serpent raises its ugly head periodically."
Ken Pagington September 22, 1996, Durban - "Often we are asked who started our fellowship, our doctrine, ministry? We are not interested in tracing personalities. Some say this way started with Jesus, but it began earlier. It began with God, He gave Jesus the Gospel, the Doctrine. As thou has sent me so have I sent them--the same way--God started it all, its the foundation on which we stand."
William Peterson - "It is true Irvine's mind did go bad. Did that change God's way? Would you expect a man's prophecies to come to pass who was mentally unbalanced? Would you call a man a false prophet who had the misfortune of losing his mind?"
William Peterson - "...not by William Irvine, but rather by many men getting together and deciding to really follow the New Testament teaching of Jesus."
Helen Phimister, (Scotland Worker), Letter dated June 15, 1995*"You sound rather disturbed about something to do with a man called William Irvine. I do believe he served God in sincerity and truth at one time. What happened I've never asked because our life doesn't really revolve round any person but around Jesus. We feel sad at heart if any lose out because it's eternal life that's our goal and we are anxious to reach that goal and help others to reach it too. We heard at our Sp. Mtgs. we will all finish but will we all reach the goal? Searching my own heart. You mentioned being "brave and honest"--hard to grasp what you mean. Even though David knew all the 'ins and outs' of Saul he never once tried to expose him - even if we knew all about others (which I don't and never likely to) I don't think it would be kind to keep talking. Of course, the soul you mentioned is gone & the judge of all the earth will do right by all but I'm sure your faith isn't built on the rights or wrongs of men but the simple right or truth in Jesus. We heard at convention about faith - God's word - God said it, we believe it and that settles it - gives us a wonderful peace. Glad this is really how I feel. What we rest our hope on is what God said - what God pointed us to. This settles it once and for all and it brings a great peace. We have enjoyed very special times at Conventions and everything to reassure our hearts that God is here amongst his people. We feel so privileged to know and see what has been revealed to us and this revelation is a rock to us that the very gates of hell won't prevail against. I hope you will understand what I'm trying to say. I don't know what you really want me to say but be assured of this I'm not trying to evade anything - but neither can I feel justified in condemning any, especially those who are long since gone and know so little about...I do hope this will help to put your mind and heart at rest. Don't worry needlessly about things really that don't come into this matter of our salvation. We have all to work out our own with fear & trembling & this Paul tells us comes about through letting God work in us the good pleasure of His will...Keep your faith strong in the man Christ Jesus. Tests will come but we must hold fast to what we have attained. I'm thankful I love God, love Jesus, love the family of God, love his will - don't feel worthy but thankful to have a part in what is eternal."
Walter Pollack, Spokesman Review, June 5, 1983 “We know that it began with a group of men in the British Isles around the turn of the century. That’s as far as we have been able to trace it.”
Willie Pollock stated at the Glenn Valley, British Columbia convention in 1988: "There has NOT been a continuity from Jesus time until now, but we feel there was a stump left somewhere--but today, there is a tree. God's work may have to go underground again, but there is a tree of fellowship today."
Walter Pollock - In 1984, in the Coeur d'Alene Press, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Walter Pollock is quoted as saying, "The church was formed at the turn of the century in Great Britain. A number of people in England, Scotland, and Ireland discovered they were missing something spiritually...the Lord brought them together, and they found they saw eye to eye on the ministry."
Willie Pollock said: In 1988, at Gilroy #1, "I don't want to drop a bombshell on you by saying this--but there has not always been a tree--not even in the Bible. But we believe that somewhere there has always been a root, a stump of Truth. We can't explain it. By faith, we accept it. If we need too much explanation, we don't have faith. During the time of the captivity, there was no tree--no true worship and sacrifice. But Daniel prayed toward Jerusalem like a stump. We don't read of any tree during the period of time between the Old and New Testaments, but when Jesus came, we read of six people. It sprouted again. In our day, there is a tree that is flourishing."
Frank Porter, 1995: "This is NOT made by a man! So get that out of your head!"
Jack Price said that he believed the "way" sprang up again around the turn of the century, that godly men were moved by the Holy Spirit to get together and restart (?) the way.
Jack Price said that when he was young an old trustworthy worker told him to not let anyone ever tell him that William Irvine started this way because it wasn't true. And Jack went on to say that he has never believed it since.

Willis Propp: April, 1992 in conversation with exiting friends: "The scripture teaches that God's way began in eternity. The Lord possessed me, speaking of Jesus, in the beginning of His way before His works were. That's what's began, _____. One of the simplest answers that I can give is that it began when 2 and 2 became 4...That's right. It began with God and it has always been, 2 and 2 have always been 4. And I could go back in my experience, maybe for when I first knew that 2 and 2 was 4, but that's not when 2 and 2 became 4. And I could go back in my mother's experience when it likely first became aware to her that 2 and 2 was 4, but that wasn't when it became 4. So we can go back and we don't have to trace it generation to generation back to the beginning. The fact that we find 2 and 2, 4 today helps me to appreciate that it was in the beginning."
Gilbert Richter, 1990 Seneca, IL convention - "Many men have started many different religions, but this faith that we believe in--we don't know who started it. But keep yourselves sanctified so that if anyone should question you concerning this faith, that you can give them the right answers."
Randy Satterfield, 1996 - Oh, I've known about that for a long time. Some preach a lineage back to Christ, but that's ludicrous.
Dan Sherick, Boyden, IA Conv, Sept 8-11, 1995 - "Some have asked about the beginning of this way. In 1897, there were two workers that came to Ireland." With that, he dropped the subject. (Statement contains a contradiction)
Harold Silvernail, Milltown, WA convention ground owner in Milltown Herald (article 8/17/-83) "The origin makes no difference because the Spirit of God can do anything,"

Everett Swanson Portland, Oregon 1989, “It doesn’t matter who started it or where it started. It is the Truth.”
Everett Swanson communication by letter with exiting "friend." 1995 *First of all, I will tell you what I teach. I tell people that the Faith is a continuation of New Testament days. The word continuation means two things. It can mean there is no break and it also means a break in time no matter how long the break is, if you return to the same thing. We have what was in existence 2,000 years ago. I believe there was a break between N.T. times & today, but the same word & work has been revived. A wheat seed can remain on the shelf for 1,000 years and then be planted & grow & it will produce wheat. If someone said there was a continual apostolic succession I doubt if that is accurate, but their statement does not change my salvation and relationship with God. Even if a person lied, that would have nothing to do with the Truth or our salvation. Truth does not have to be in people (although hopefully it always is) because it is in God & in Christ & in his eternal word. In Ps 11:3, if foundations are destroyed, the righteous would have nothing to build on. The temple of Solomon had huge foundation stones laid under the surface & the temple was later burned but likely the foundation stones were still there when the temple was rebuilt in the book of Ezra. We know where to build today because Christ laid the foundation stones & they are still there.
May Sylvester, September - 1989 “The information in that book (THE SECRET SECT) is just that man’s theory about how the TRUTH began.”
Tharold Sylvester - In the August 18, 1983, Skagit Valley Herald, serving NW Washington, reporters asked Tharold Sylvester if he denied the historical account of the group's origins found in the book "The Secret Sect", and he replied, “We don’t deny it when asked if the historical account of the founding was true.”
Tharold Sylvester, The Bellingham, Washington Herald 8/20/83 - "Jesus Himself set us up. Whether it was planted in the first century, the 10th century, or the 20th century, the message is the same, it produces the same thing."
Tharold Sylvester, 11/16/83 "We are not following some way founded in the early 1900's, but it goes clear back to Christ."
Karen Tenniswood '96 - *William Irvine did not start the church, it is from the beginning, and the way was just made evident to him then.

How did the first worker get saved? He replied "That's a good question."

There was no reason to tell you! Why would we tell you something like that. It is a matter of faith.
George Walker letter dated November 27, 1979 -"I am not answering these questions, because I don't believe to do so would profit you. 80 years ago I decided to go forth and preach as Jesus sent the Apostles...I find it more profitable to exercise my mind to seek to abide in Jesus, as said in John 15, rather than tracing the origin of the little streams that made up the river which we have enjoyed traveling on."
George Walker, March 24, 1942, On "Christian Conventions" letterhead, George Walker wrote to the Office of the Director of Selective Service, Washington, DC:
"...........during the closing years of the last century and the first years of this century, a number of people in the British Isles and in America were exercised in heart and mind, through their study of the Scriptures, in regard to the methods of preaching and worship in the several churches of which they were then members. They were deeply concerned about spiritual things, and became fully convinced that there should be a return to the methods and purpose taught and carried out by Christ and His first desciples. This conviction led...........to religious meetings, and in due time a number of these people went forth to devote their lives to the preaching of the Gospel."
Sharon Williamson, worker, stated in Rockport, Illinois gospel meeting, February 1994 - “Yes, William Irvine started this way; it was a divine revelation from God. He was raised up to revive the truth just like the Word of God was dormant for 400 years.”
Richard Wulf - Los Angeles Times 9/13/82: "Richard Wulf, 27, a Two-by-Two worker in Mexico for two years, was asked about this apparent suppression of the sect's origins. 'Near the turn of the century God raised up Godly men in Ireland and Scotland,' Wulf acknowledged. 'We respect them and what they established. But we don't hold to that history and line of succession.' Added Kennedy, a worker spokesman, 'Now we're not following these men, but the New Testament fellowship."
John Long in a personal letter to William M. Rule, late 1920’s - “I was the man who obtained for Irvine the first opening for a mission in Nenagh (County Tipperary, Ireland), August 1897. William Irvine was the name of the original leader of the Go Preachers and the movement dates from 1897”
Wilson McClung (brother worker in 1903) quoted in Impartial Reporter and Farmers Journal on June 6, 1906 - ”Our mission was started by William Irvine.”
Impartial Reporter and Farmers Journal - July 7, 1910 page 5 - “Mr. William Irvine, the leader and originator of ‘the work’ is there at present, also Mr. George Walker, but Mr. Edward Cooney is, we are told, on his way, having left Canada last week.”

Impartial Reporter and Farmers Journal Newspaper - December 18, 1913. - In 1913, Edward Cooney admitted under oath in an English courtroom that Irvine was the founder….”Mr. Justice Darling: “Were you the founder of this sect?”
Edward Cooney: “No. William Irvine was the first about sixteen years ago.”
Impartial Reporter and Farmers Journal, Enniskillen, Ireland. - July 19, 1917 “Their founder was really a Mr. William Irvine, who lived near Enniskillen, and his doctrines of course, do not differ essentially from those of the various heretical millenarian sects which have arisen in the history of Christianity.”
William Irvine personal letter August 17, 1921 - “God made me the first head of the family. He did the calling by me, and now these past seven years he is doing the choosing, for many are called, few chosen……If you are part of the bride, the Spirit will give you enough light to deliver you from the power of the greatest set of robbers in the world history who thought they could rob me and those of what God had given them.” (His angry response at having been excommunicated from the sect he started.)

Mary was NOT the Mother of God, for God never had a mother and that Mary brought forth God, you blaspheme! Mary is never called the mother of God in the Protestant or the Roman Catholic testament. Ray Jameison - Spokane, WA 1974 - “God’s mercy is giving us Jesus as our pattern.”
Willie Jameison - Walla Walla, WA - “Jesus never made one single mistake, a marvelous example.”
Willie Jameison - Walla Walla, WA 1960 - “Two Lords: Jesus Christ and God. But they are not one God. Jesus had a sinful nature but did not sin. His blood came from Mary, the seed of David. Jesus was not baptized to make Him God’s Son, He was already God’s Son. He wanted to give to the world the example of being “dead to the world and to himself and all false religions.” When we believe in Jesus we are believing in God’s Standard.”
David Jennings - Devon, MT -“The life of Jesus remained pure, even though he was carrying the contamination of the many other little streams.”
Dallas Linnaman - Turlock Special Meetings. CA 1992 - “Jesus means Savior. Jesus was just a man. Christ was the Spirit of God. Jesus manifested Christ and it was Christ in Jesus that made Jesus the Savior. Paul labored according to the Christ that was in him. Jesus manifested the Christ within Him. Jesus was a mortal body for the “Forever Christ”. Christ is only known in the place of obedience. It’s obedience to the voice of God that gives life. Colossians 1:27-29
Willie Martin - “George Walker preached that Jesus was a created being.”
Jackie Meeks - Post Falls Convention 1972 - “Jesus had a sinful nature and the potential is there for us to overcome our flesh if we walk in His Way. He learned obedience through suffering. Ken Paginton - Olympia, WA 1977 - “God is supreme. He and the Son planned Jesus’ coming. If the blood was all that was needed, then Jesus could have died as a baby. It is the manner of his life we need to see. Before Jesus was born He was in eternity but He lived and was laid in the tomb and then went into eternity again.”
Walter Pollock - “Jesus, God and Holy Spirit are one Being but not one God.”
John Porterfield - speaking at funeral of Nelson Printz, Bakersfield CA July 21, 1993 - ”But Christ was the ‘express image’ of God. He wasn’t God, and he didn’t claim to be. He was in this sense the same as you and I; the Scripture tells us that ‘ye are gods.”

Charles Preston - Twin Bridges, Montana December 3, 1972 - “Jesus had two natures to begin with. He was born with human nature, born of flesh. He also had the Divine nature. He never needed to be born again. He was born with the Spirit of His Father. The Divine Life was from the beginning. Jesus did have to fight in order to win.”
Willis Propp - Post Falls Convention, ID June 6, 1985 - “Jesus is united with God but is not God. I don’t see that Jesus is God in the scripture. It goes beyond my thinking.”
Willis Propp - Devon, MT 1977 - “Jesus came as a prophet to bring the message of God to man, and as a priest who takes the message of the people to God.”
Jeff Reid - 1984 - “People say if you don’t say Jesus is God, you are a cult. Jesus is deity in that He is Godlike. He is the Son of God and has the character of His Father.”
Dale Spencer - Gospel meeting October 5, 1987 - “Now where did this begotten son come from? God begot him. And when Did God beget His son? The beginning of the creation was God begotting his son.” (He was a created being)
Leo Stancliff - CA 1980 - “Jesus Christ was the pattern minister and He gave the New Testament Ministry to us.”
Tharold Sylvester - Oakland, CA 1974 funeral service for Vera Coleman. - “Christ died a shameful death. Men put Him through all that suffering but the third day God raised Him from the dead. Why? Not only to declare the power of the gospel, but to say that this is the kind of a gospel He wanted to predominate and be glorified in the world.”
Mary Thompson - Personal letter - Scotland, 1980 - “Jesus had victory over His own will right to the end. This is where God’s blessing lies, victory over our own will.”
Will Thompson - Monaghan Convention Ireland, 1957 - “Without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness; God was manifest in the flesh. Mike Thorsteinson - 1983 - “We do not deny the deity of Christ. We may differ slightly on His humanity but I’m not sure what “true humanity” and “true Deity” entail. We believe in the virgin birth by which two natures came to be in Christ Jesus.”

Lyle Van Kuren - Special Meeting 1958 - “Every spirit that confesseth Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God. The reason that we are always being brought to death is that we might manifest the life of Christ in our mortal flesh. The way one confesses Jesus is to die to self.”
Lyle Van Kuren - Ronan, MT 1973 - “Jesus suffered for us that we should follow His steps. We must suffer like He did.”
George Walker - Georgia - “Jesus Christ was a created being.”
Fred Wood - Belfast, Northern Ireland March 4, 1982 - “The Christ existed before Jesus was born.”

(32.)....................QUOTES ON JEWS
Tharold Sylvester - Park Road Grange Hall, Spokane, WA 1960 - The reason why God chose the Jews (to be His chosen people in the Old Testament) was because they were worse than anyone else. They are a proud and stiff necked people.”
(33.)....................QUOTES ON KINGDOM OF GOD

Howard Mooney - funeral for Joe Brown, Medford, OR - “The Lord’s servants have always ruled by feeding. The feeders of God’s people have always been the leaders of God’s people just as the shepherd who feeds his flock is able to control and lead the flock.”
(34.)....................QUOTES ON LEGALISM
Alan Ashmore - Gospel Meeting, 8/8/65 "I Corinthians 11:10 It is just as much of a shame for a woman to have short hair as for a man to have long hair. We show that we are under subjection by the length of our hair. Women must be under subjection!"
Harold Bennett ~ Garibaldi Special Meeting ~ 1990 - It's not just what we do, but also what we don't do that will send us to a lost eternity.
Arnold Blonke, Glen Valley Convention BC 8/4/99 "I have a list that is growing of friends that are attending hockey games, causing them to worship the idols of this world."
Jack Carroll- "God doesn't take any into a prepared eternity unless they work to get there."
Jack Carroll, Hayden Lake Convention 6/26/49 "There are some people inside this family of God who believe that this is a free for all. They feel that they are at liberty to do what their minds and hearts desire. They imagine that there is no discipline, no order, no government inside God's Kingdom. This is not so. The mark of a good government is that it is not seen until it is needed. Someone said, 'the less governed, the better governed.' There is no room in the Family of God for lawless men or women."
Jack Carroll ~ Special Meeting 12/5/51 - "The Pharisees were pledged to know the law and to live the law and to preach the law. They attempted to work out their own salvation. It's not what we do for God that makes us His children, it's what we allow God to do for us."
Ed Cornock ~ Denver,Colorado Convention September 11, 1965 - Many things are seen in worldly homes that can have no place in a Godly home. I have been distressed lately to learn that some of God's people are bringing TVs into their homes. this is sad, because it will not help you to be more spiritual. The TV advertisements say "Buy a TV and bring the world into your home." Is that the kind of atmosphere you want there? When we, as God's servants, visit your homes, we endeavor always to bring with us an influence that will help create a Godly atmosphere there, and we know that the TV counteracts our efforts and if you insist on having that in your home we can only conclude that you do not want our influence there. We have too little time at best to read and meditate and pray. Certainly we are losing out if we devote time to the trash that comes over TV. Don't make it more difficult for God to bless you.
Percy Fletcher, Olympia Convention, 1957 "Sometimes we say that in God's Kingdom there are no rules, no regulations, no forms or traditions, but if we have a proper understanding of God's Kingdom, we will find to our advantage and benefit, that God hasn't left us without some guiding influences to govern and to guide our lives. If this were not true, where would we be? Everyone would go by his own thinking. god gave us this new nature first of all, then an understanding that made us want to be under the new rules. The point is, are we willing to walk according to this rule?"
Dellas Linaman, Gilroy Convention, 1981 - "Hebrew 11 is the faith chapter. This tells us what these people did through faith. It was what they did about their faith that saved them. Faith without works is dead. It is through our works by which we are saved.
Colin Macnicol, Porland Special Meeting, "If only God's people would remember the necessity of having the right marks of preserving their testimony. They would be able to show whose they are and whom they serve. Satan would have no claim on them. God's people are to be known in the streets, among the multitudes of men. There should be sufficient evidence about us, about our attire, about our spirit, about our walk to show that we are the Lord's."
Howard Mooney, 1977 "We don't set down a list of rules or regulations and tell them what they can and cannot do! They are satisfied in Jesus."
Howard Mooney, 1970's - "Isn't it a marvelous thing to think that right in the midst of this sin and decay, God is able to raise up and establish one of the best crops of young people that we have ever known in our day and generation. That is not only true here in New Mexico and Texas but every place that we have had the privilege of going to Convention this year, you see that same wonderful evidence.
Now I wouldn't want to give you the impression that all of our young people are all that they should be. Sometimes our hearts ache when we see some of our young folks have such a glorious privilege and are not making use of it. We would like to think that for some of you young people who have come to this convention that haven't been too Christlike, haven't been too separated in your life, the effect of this Convention would send you forth, that you Sisters would be looking more like Sister Workers, and you Brothers would have more of the spirit of a Brother Worker.
That is one of the purposes for which we come to Convention is that God would help us to see the worthwhileness of that taking place."
Howard Mooney, 1977 "Yes, and we thank God for the Marys and the Phoebes, etc. The farther on I go the more I thank God for the Ministry of the Sister Workers. When you see the evidence of the type of women that you see on every hand in the world today, to me it is nothing less than a compound miracle that God can take women and make out of them the wonderful characters that represent our Sister Workers. It is a wonderful assurance that the Workman hasn't changed and neither has His Workmanship."
Howard Mooney - 1977 - “I want you to take special notice of all the beautiful young people we have with us here. We don’t set down a list of rules or regulations and tell them what they can and cannot do. They are satisfied in Jesus.”
Irvine Pearson, Seneca, Illinois Convention - August 16-19, 1973 - Thursday A.M. - "When we go out, we should display something, there should be a little glow of light. Get your light burning brighter to be a light to others. We hear different times, people say, what they saw was in the lives of the friends. One was a nun for 50 years, and some friends went into the hospital and she saw something in them. She is now in the Truth, she found Jesus. It goes back to the light she saw. We can be light wherever we are. Some children were talking one day about being lights, and one child was told, "But you are not professing." She said, "I'm a light that hasn't been lit yet." - they dress different and act different, and when they are old enough, they can have a part in the meetings. Giving out invitations doesn't accomplish anything anymore, but the light in you is what helps. There is something better than going to heaven yourself, and that is bringing someone else with you.
"Ye are our epistle, known and read of all men." You are writing a chapter each day - - be careful what you write....God gave us a banner, lift it up high. We try to carry the banner in our lives. Be careful in the way you walk so people will know there is something different in your life."
Irvine Pearson, Seneca, Illinois Convention, August 16-19, 1973 - Thursday A.M. - "I was in Dublin one day on the street and looked at the crowds of people, their hair styles, red ties, shoe styles, etc., and I saw a girl across the street in the midst of all this and she stood out amongst them all. She was displaying the banner. All took notice of that girl, her walk and ways and dress were different. What was written on that banner? Aaron and Hur lifted up the hands of Moses - the Lord was that banner. In this convention, we should be lifted up and set right and get MEASURED and weighed and the physician can do what is necessary and then we can carry that banner. We have a perfect right to display it higher than ourselves, lift it up. This is the purpose of convention. Have the presence of God in the meeting, bring God in the meeting and find out where we stand.
Gilbert Richter - Jamestown, North Dakota Special Meetings - “….’wisdom is calling’….You know, I sat at the back this morning. I watched a few things. You might not like it if I wrote out your report. Some of you might not like it. I do keep reports….I have to give reports. I have reports….but when ‘wisdom is calling’….
Paul Sharp, Glen Valley Convention 8/4/88 "I don't like to see trends of some things amongst God's people: such as make up, jewelry, and games. We don't want to see law have to be used. We need clean homes, not videos. You folks will have to decide whether we have to use the rod."
Tharold Sylvester, "Ornamental rings are superfluous and are among the ornaments that should be put off. There is a reason for this. The end toward which the Lord has always labored is to make His people different. We are intended to be different in spirit, different in appearance, different in our manner of life. This is what makes us a light in the world around us. If we were like the world, which is living in darkness, there would be no light. Our only hope of being a light is by being different."
Eldon Tenniswood, Milltown Convention 8/28/88 "I Timothy 2:8-9 We know that this is a trial. There are certain streaks of vanity in women. That thing that attracts people the most to God's WAY is to have a good conscience towards God. Diamond rings (engagement rings) are costly array. Humble people will always obey."
An unprofessing relative of a professing woman said, "I have never seen anyone work so hard to be so ugly!" She was referring to how much time professing women spend on their long hair.
The early workers did have a long list of rules which governed all behavior from the wearing of wedding rings, the length of women's skirts, to how to dispose of the bread and wine after meeting. This was circulated to all the elders in Washington state.
William Irvine's earliest attacks were on "R P and E" Religion, Politics and Education. Then, from there the list expanded to clergymen, church buildings, linen handkerchiefs, money, tobacco, liquor, weddings, jewelry, hats, hairstyles, colors of clothing, beards, non beards, shoe styles, black stockings for women, brown underwear for men, long sleeves for women. Each decade the list of rules changed just a little, with some leftovers from the decades before.
They expanded to rules against radios, dancing, athletic interests, television, denim clothing, white shoes, red shoes, sandals, movies, flavored coffee, hobbies, video games, owning airplanes, etc. These rules took the place of any mention of sin, immorality, dishonesty. People were made to feel guilty for everything but sin. Today, pornography, adultery, homosexuality, abusive spouses, and deceit are problems within the group and its ministry, yet no one seems to notice. As long as the workers focus on outward appearance rather than inward repentance, people seem oblivious.
The younger generation is proud to say that no longer do the workers rule anyone with their old legalism. But what about repentance of sin? Will the workers ever take care of that issue?
- A professing woman wanted to give a baby shower for her professing relative. The workers told her “No, it isn’t right to put pressure on others for gifts. The left hand should not know what the right hand is doing.”
- A woman wanted to have a birthday party for an unprofessing neighbor. The elder’s wife told her, “I would never do such a thing! I wouldn’t waste my time with worldly people!”
(35.)....................QUOTES ON THE MILLENIUM
Josephine Green - personal conversation - “George Walker used to say that during the millennium we will be given crowns of gold. No, we don’t really know whether it is really a literal thousand year reign because the Bible says a thousand years is like one day with the Lord.”
Hazelton Meetings on Acts 1 - “This same Jesus shall return. He will still uphold the same ministry, the same fellowship, the same worship, the same baptism.”
Olympia Convention - “You don’t want to be in a picture theater when Christ returns or you won’t be taken.”
John Porterfield - Spokane Special Meeting 11/24/79 - “If we are faithful in our part, we need not worry about the Lord’s part.” We don’t need to worry about His return, we just need to be ready.”
Paul Scheup - “The two witnesses in Revelation will be the two servants, faithful and ready, but they will have to remain behind when the others are take in order to start the work again. It wouldn’t be possible for the two servants who remain behind to attend to the millions who repent, so God will enlist many to help.”
Everett Swanson - 1980 - Private conversation - “We are in the millennium now. Jesus is reigning on earth through the workers.”
Tharold Sylvester - “The Millenium is a spiritual reign of Christ.”
Eldon Tenniswood - Young people's meeting, CA 1982 - Christ is coming back the same way He went up, that’s all I know.”
George Walker - “God’s people will see Him (at second coming) but others will not until He begins to reign on earth for a thousand years.”
(36.)....................QUOTES ON THE MINISTRY
Clarence Anderson, Pukekohe Convention, New Zealand "He has given to us a more excellent ministry. II Cor. 4:1-2 Therefore, seeing we have received this ministry as we have received mercy, we faint not. We have received this ministry. There are no other people on the face of the earth that have the same ministry we have. They have the Bible, they sing hymns, but they do not have this ministry. The ministry that Jesus established for people - young men and women are voluntarily willing to make themselves poor in order that they can make others rich -- leave all. Paul said, in II Cor. 4:5 'we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus.' We preach Jesus the Lord and ourselves are servants for Jesus sake. It goes on also 'we which live are all able to enter into death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus Christ might be made manifest in mortal flesh that life might be made within you. If death does not work within us, we cannot produce life. We have the same spirit of faith as it is written. Hebrews 11 tells us so many things are profitable and that last chapter, 'Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers.' That shows they were doing it...and we are thankful for those who have been like angels. At Buenos Aires, one of the friends there was saying, 'I have two angels in my house.' Donald Campbell is there from here."
Arnold Blonke, Glen Valley Convention 8/4/88 "We (the workers) are continuing the work on the foundation."
Willie Brown - Oakland Special Meeting - February 29, 1946 - "There is a river of gladness and we need not be perplexed at all that is going on about us. There is something about this river that we can drink from that will "make glad." Are you filling the hearts of God's servants and His people with gladness? They need it!"
Willie Brown - Oakland Special Meeting - February 29, 1946 - "I sometimes tell people that the first thing I saw when my companion and I got off the boat going to Egypt in 1931, was a sign said, "East is east, and West is West, East or West - - Van Houten's cocoa is the best." Can East meet West! Don't forget the Bible was written in the East, and Jesus of Nazareth was born in the East, and don't forget that when God calls His family, they shall come from the East and from the West and the North and the South to sit down in the Kingdom of God. This is not the time to sit down! This is the time to get a move on!
Walter Burkenshaw ~ ~ (Glen Valley, August 15, 1988) "God's servants are interpreters, interpreting God's word into things they can understand."
Jack Carroll's written essay on THE NEW TESTAMENT MINISTRY, 1950 "How long should this ministry be obeyed? Matthew 28:18-20 Luke 12:43 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and Son and of the Holy Ghost; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when he cometh shall find so doing."
Jack Carroll, San Diego Convention 10/6/51 "We make no secret of the fact that we are deliberately and purposefully teaching men and women the world over how to do without the hireling ministry and the public building, to worship God in spirit and in truth as those early Christians did in homes consecrated to God as recorded in the New Testament."
Jack Carroll, Spokane Special Meeting 12/11/49 "The harvest is plenteous but the laborers are few. The best and most noble place in this life is the Harvest Field."
Jack Carroll, Hayden Lake Convention 6/25/49 "There is no record of a hired minister in the New Testament to preach the Word of God. No hireling minister has any scriptural right to baptize anybody. Jesus deliberately sought to have the scriptures fulfilled in His life and ministry. Salt is a preservative. Our responsibility is to preserve the Way of the Truth upon the earth."
Jack Carroll, - Manhattan, Montana Convention - October 4, 1945, "For the spirit and attitude you assume towards those that have made themselves poor, homeless, and strangers for the Gospels sake will ultimately determine where you will be in eternity."
Jack Carroll - “God’s Word must be lived. It can’t be captured on paper. The letter killeth.”
Jack Carroll, Spokane Special Meetings "God doesn't take any into a prepared eternity unless they work to get there." (a do it yourself salvation)
Calvin Casselman, Glen Valley convention 8/15/88 "There is nothing to discuss. Truth is Truth. It is just a matter of being willing."
William Carroll, - Impartial Reporter and Farmer's Journal - August 12th, 1909, "God's messengers are His interpreters.
Hubert Childers, Seneca, Illinois Convention - August 16-19, 1973 - Sunday P.M. - " Ex 17 - "They came to a place and they had no water and they again complained against Moses and the Lord, and Moses fell on his face and cried to God. Little do you know some of the struggles of the servants of God on behalf of the children of God, while you are asleep, they are agonizing in prayer for you before God, anxious that you would walk in the fear of God. God said, "Stand on your feet and take the elders of Israel with you." It is so that God's servants go on before the people. God asks something of his servants that He doesn't ask of you folks. Jesus in the garden, took 3 of His disciples and brought them to a certain place and said, "Watch and pray," and Jesus went a little farther, Jesus went farther than he asked His disciples to go. He asks his disciples, his servants, to go a little farther than the Christians. In one state an older worker didn't leave right after convention, so we asked for a little worker's meeting and I remember I was glad I qualified to be in the meeting that day, I felt glad. A man on the convention grounds asked one of the workers if he could sit in that worker's meeting, and the worker told him he could but even after looking forward to it, the moment it came, he realized, "I DON"T QUALIFY TO SIT IN THAT MEETING WITH THOSE WHO LEFT EVERYTHING FOR THE GOSPEL'S SAKE."
There is a meeting you can qualify for and that is the Sunday morning meeting and the Wednesday night meeting. May God help you prepare for that meeting, to qualify for it. People outside cannot qualify to sit in that meeting, because they sit down in that meeting and hear others telling what God has done for them, but they qualify for a Gospel meeting and listen to the wonderful work of God and to the hope God offers through the Gospel.
Hubert Childers, Seneca, Illinois Convention - August 16-19, 1973 - Friday A.M. - "All of those who speak from the platform, I'm sure, are troubled, praying and searching the Scripture, that when they stand here before you, they might have words to touch your heart. This isn't just sermons. The world has sermons, the false religions have sermons. You can buy them, but God's people don't have sermons. God's servants agonize and labor and pray that they might have a message from God to the hearts of God's people. If we could see behind the scenes, yesterday, last night, and this morning, I expect we would have seen our sister, Louie, after all these years, laboring, agonizing, and praying, searching the Scripture to have a part in the meeting this morning. This is what makes meetings like this precious to God and to each of us, that we would have a message from God to build up and strengthen our brothers and sisters. That part you have in the meeting is very important and it is very necessary that you prepare, and that the words you speak would be a little message from God.
Herbert Childers, Seneca, Illinois Convention, August 16-19, 1973 - Sunday P.M. - "When Paul said, "I have you in my heart, what did it mean?" He meant that little church, those people, I have them in my thoughts. I'm concerned about their life. I'm anxious about them, how do I know? Because he said, "I will send Timothy to you as soon as I can, to see if you are fighting the battle and not be discouraged. Sometimes people don't write and don't write, and after awhile, you wonder, are they dead or alive? You wonder if they are swamped by the temptations of this world and succumb to the powers of the enemy. I am quite concerned by some in Texas. Time went so fast, and I went so far in such a little while, really they didn't have time to write, but I was concerned. Since coming here, I got a letter and that eased our minds and we thank God. Your part in this work of God can encourage God's servants to pour out their lives to the end. You are in this way, not just to go to heaven, but to help others, help the workers, those laboring here and far away."
Edward Cooney, - 1907, "The interpretation of the Scriptures was and is alone entrusted by Jesus to his destitute sent ones, primarily, and in a secondary sense to those in fellowship with them."
Jan Demmon, Olympia Convention 1985 - “God’s servants are like royalty: kings and queens in the Kingdom of God. I am so thankful to be counted among the royal family.”
William Donaldson, 1961 "God keeps judgment in His hands. He gave His Servants the Keys of the Kingdom but He keeps the keys of death and hell."
Velma Filener, Boring, OR 1988 "God wants us to be satisfied with being a servant. The condition of a servant is obedience and willingness."
Percy Fletcher, Olympia Convention 1957 "Obeying those who have the rule over you or watch for your souls. This is one of those things, if we observe the rules in Christ, peace will be upon us."
Dan Hilton, Olympia Convention 8/26/79 "God's True Ministry can meet all the needs of God's True People all of the time."
Dan Hilton - Post Falls convention 1957 - “The Everlasting Life is given by the Everlasting Ministry, ordained by God.”
Dan Hilton - Olympia Convention - “If the ministry does not keep the pattern Jesus laid down, it does not love Him and cannot have the Father dwelling in it. The ministry has been the most important part of God’s plan in every age. God’s True Ministry can meet all the needs of all the people all the time.”
Sydney Holt, funeral service for Grace Dresler 12/5/77 "When we plan to make a journey to another place, the first thing we need to do is make a reservation. When we do this, a price must be paid. You know the day and hour and your destination, but that isn't enough. On the day you are leaving, you must confirm your reservation. You confirm it be your presence, being there, ready to make your journey. In a spiritual sense, we make our reservation for heaven when we hear and obey the gospel. Our sister did this 51 years ago. The price isn't paid all at once, but day by day throughout life in obedience to the will of God." (example of the do it yourself, pay it yourself gospel)
Merlin Howlett, Milltown Convention 8/28/88 "There are more workers preaching the gospel to more places and more people than at any time."
Garrett Hughes - Florida Special Meeting 1987 "John 19:26 Jesus looked down at the foot of the cross, and His mother was there. John was standing there. He said to His mother, 'Woman, behold thy son. Then, he said to John, behold thy mother.' In your Bible it says he took her to his own home. BUT THAT IS NOT RIGHT! HOME IS AN ADDED WORD THAT DOESN'T BELONG THERE! He took her to his own people. JOHN DIDN'T HAVE A HOME!"

Howard Mooney, Walla Walla Convention WA 1959 "An unrighteous person is one who doesn't worship God in the right way or think the right thoughts."
Harry Morgan, Santee, CA 1980 "We purchase the Truth at our own personal expense or as a result of our own investment into it." (again, it is our effort, not faith in what Jesus did.)

Tharold Sylvester - Olympia Convention. - “If anyone else began having meetings in the home and going out two by two, apart from us, they would still be unsaved. You can only get the true Spirit through our ministry.”
Eldon Tenniswood, "We are running a race. What is hindering us? Satan causing unbelief, doubt, lack of confidence in those that preach the gospel."
Eldon Tenniswood, 1971 "Unitl people are willing to lay aside all former teaching, become as a little child, they never will understand the Truth as taught by Jesus, in word and deed."
Eldon Tenniswood, personal letter 1971 "I hope you have made an inward surrender to the Lord so that you can accept the teachings as they are given through the Holy Spirit from His servants. There is a necessity for us to lay aside all our thoughts and our reasonings and accept that God teaches us through His Spirit."
I think of my own life when I was 16 1/2 years old. I gave my life to God and that little stream of water started. At 20 years of age, I had the opportunity to go into the harvest field. At 23 1/2 years of age, I left my own country; and at 25, I went to Africa and tried to learn another language and later moved north to Egypt. In 1939, God opened the door into Lebanon and Syria. We cannot boast of much, only 6 of us laboring there, but you know what we have found - - that the West and the East can be one! Wherever the seed of the Kingdom of God is sown, it will give light and life in Christ Jesus. I feel thankful for this thought and God can still unite the people and make them one in Christ Jesus."
Will Thompson - Monaghan Convention, Ireland 1957 - “Justified in the Spirit. Here is a little verse that came to me as I thought of being justified in the Spirit. “Hereby know ye the Spirit of God. Every Spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is from God.” John did not mean that we have a mental belief that Christ came and was born of the Virgin Mary and suffered at the hands of Pontius Pilate – it means more than that. John had in mind that the Spirit of Christ would be manifested in mortal flesh. As we look on the world today, we see quite a sprinkling of religious life, much sacrifice and much going on outwardly, but we don’t see too much of what John wrote here – of the Spirit of Christ being manifested in human flesh.
Mike Thorsteinson - Seattle, WA - “Yes, it is true that sometimes the workers disagree on certain things. But no matter the differences, you can know a worker is right if he believes in the New Testament Ministry and the meetings in the home.”
(37.)....................QUOTES ON MIRACLES
William Irvine and some of the earliest workers sought to do miraculous healings but were unable to do so. Some even tried chiropractic adjustments as a form of laying on of hands.
The Impartial Reporter and Farmers’ Journal mentioned a few of these:
- IMPARTIAL REPORTER AND FARMERS JOURNAL 7/25/12 page 3 - “With demure faces their preachers speculate on the possibility of raising the dead, while laying hands in conjunction with the use of anointing oil has taken the place of the services of the physician. And now a fresh malady of mental madness has broken out – certain of them claim to speak with the tongues of the Spirit, screaming forth a stream of gibberish which is gravely interpreted as being of the Holy Ghost.”
- THE IMPARTIAL REPORTER AND FARMERS JOURNAL 7/19/17 - “The old phenomena of hysteria is not absent, and many of the women preachers fall into a sort of trance in which they are supposed to be speaking under the influence of the Holy Spirit.”
- IMPARTIAL REPORTER AND FARMERS JOURNAL- 7/25/12, page 3 - “At Stowmarket a boy of 11, after being baptized, was seized with convulsions and howled like a dog for a period of four hours. This was gravely diagnosed by the Cooneyite preacher in attendance as ‘the great and sore complaining of Yum, the dog demon!’ But after much supplication by the faithful at the meeting, the canine devil was exorcised and departed with a last dismal howl. Not to be outdone, a young woman from Stowmarket, who was induced at the meeting to declare herself a convert, suddenly fell to the ground in a species of epilepsy, foaming and wallowing in the most distressing manner. But at last coming to herself, and weak and exhausted with the strong convulsions, she was persuaded that seven devils had flown from her.”
Soon thereafter the early workers decided that miracles were not for this age.
Jack Carroll - Kingdom of God Studies - “There is not a hint or suggestion of physical healing in Luke 4:16-18.”
Jack Carroll - Divine Healing, Tongues, Etc. - “The United States has been the birthplace of many of these movements such as Christian Science, Dowism, Sanfordism, New Thoughtism, the Pentecostal Tongues Movement and a few score other divine healing cults which have been the direct cause of many unnecessary deaths, unbeliefs and confusion as well as a source of discouragement to God’s true people.
Percy Fletcher - Olympia, WA 1957. - “People have said that we have all the marks for the New Testament Ministry, but why haven’t we the other side? Why can’t we cast out devils, why can’t we heal the body? I think I can today give people an answer to such a question. When Jesus came He started to work miracles, to raise the dead, give sight to the blind, cleanse the lepers, heal the sick. Did He do this in the latter part of His ministry? When those disciples were sent forth they also were given this power, but did they use this very long? Just a little while. Some say, “Why don’t you speak with tongues as the disciples did? The Day of Pentecost God came down and everyone heard his own tongue, this wonderful Gospel. On one of Paul’s journeys, I think the last journey of all, Paul was given this authority. Acts 28:1-6. Those people were convinced when they saw this miracle. To my mind, god has some spectacular, wonderful means of establishing His covenant in every age, and special miracles have been performed. But most have been set aside after the covenant was established.”
Rose Johnson - 1979 - “Miracles were for the Jewish people, not for Gentiles.”
Brother worker - gospel meeting 10/31/65 - “The purpose of miracles was because there was no written word.”
- The workers have severely reprimanded any professing people who presumed to visit and pray for the sick. They firmly state that they are usurping the workers’ authority. In reality, the workers do not pray for the sick or the dying because they think God doesn’t care about our natural needs. They view death as a good thing, and suffering is a good thing. They don’t think that people can be saved at the end of their lives because they need to have spent time listening to the workers, going to the meetings in order to receive the Spirit.
(38.)....................QUOTES ON OBEDIENCE
Boring Gospel Meeting - April 27, 1987 - “Obeying Jesus is what saves us.”

Willie Donaldson - Boring, Convention, OR Aug. 31, 1979 - “A person belonging to a church today would never get anything out of it. They build themselves a building and ask for payments for loans. Would God be a million dollars in debt?
Harry Holland - Silverdale Convention 1959 - “If you are going to come to God by Him, you will have to come by His ministry, His baptism, and His Fellowship. It is the Fellowship of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:3 If you come to God through Christ, you can’t come through something He hasn’t established. God didn’t fill the world with confusion.”
Merlin Howlett - Milltown Convention 9/4/88 - “We are the only people in the world left who believe in the resurrection.”

Willie Jameison - funeral of Jack Carroll, Milltown, WA March 30, 1957 - “Thousands of years before the world was ever made, this was God’s plan. Howard Mooney - funeral service of Joe Brown, Medford, OR March 6, 1978 - “When God planned His Way in the beginning, He planned the kind of fellowship that He would have upon the earth and the love that would hold the fellowship together and the kind of ministry that would bring people into that fellowship. This was all planned before the world began. God measures our faithfulness by the way in which we keep true to that original plan.”
Amy Patterson - Walla Walla Convention 1959 - “We need to learn how to take on godliness. We learn by the lives of others, our examples. We would not know how to grope our way if God didn’t soften our Way by the Servants of god speaking the Word and other lives living it out.”
Virgil Patton - Oklahoma 1976 - “We are God’s only light that can shine for others in this world.”
Personal conversation with an elder, Worcester, Massachusetts, January 1985 - “My family grew up in a Bible believing church. We didn’t know the True, Narrow Way until we denounced the traditional church and heard the TRUTH from one of our beloved workers…..We realized that the Bible Church people were no different from the Mormons. We are the true Way. My cousins are Moody Bible Institute Missionaries and those poor souls are going to hell because they don’t know THE TRUTH.”
Personal conversation with senior workers from Europe, Sri Lanka, Hawaii, California, Washington DC and Boston. May 12, 1985 - “Billy Graham is representing the false gospel and is doing it to become a millionaire. We must shun this so-called gospel. We must be very careful here in the New England area since this false prophet is coming to Hartford. We will reach the world before he does! We estimate our numbers to be about 450,000 for the United States and 600, 000 to 700,000 world-wide.”
Willie Pollack - Glenn Valley, BC August 4, 1988 - “I don’t want to drop a bombshell. But there has not been continuity from Jesus’ time until now, but we feel there was a stump left somewhere but today there is a tree.” Job 14:7
Tharold Sylvester - Ronan Convention 1973 - “God has given us a better Way, a perfect way, the Narrow Way. Enter in at the Strait Gate. Strait means difficult. God’s Way is difficult.”

Eldon Tenniswood - Milltown Convention 8/28/88 - “All the denominations of the world have come from man’s brain as to what suits God.”
Eldon Tenniswood - Los Angeles, CA - March 10, 1985 Special Meeting. - “Most of our new converts come from the traditional church. That clearly shows us how lacking the church is and it is up to us to show them the True, Narrow Way. Our gospel is a Way of Life.
Don Wolfenden - Glen Valley Convention BC August 4, 1988 - “When did this start? Some said 100 or 200 years ago. But this was in the heart of God from the beginning. God’s Way is in the Bible. Jesus the same, yesterday, today and forever. This is God’s WAY and we are in it.”
Young worker, first year in the work. - “Howard told me not to ever use the words: convention, special meetings, profess, friends, workers or to call the Way, the Truth when we are around professing people. We don’t want people to get the idea that the Truth is some sort of exclusive group because it isn’t!”
(40.)....................QUOTES ON ORIGINAL SIN
William Irvine - Crocknacrieve Convention Northern Ireland July 3, 1913 - “If there was anything pure in the human family, it is a little baby, and nothing makes me so mad as to hear people talk about it being born in original sin.”
Tsvtomv Miyata - 9/14/86 - “A child has no sinful past. They are new.”
Tharold Sylvester - “We do not believe in original sin”
**** How can they believe Christ was born with a sinful nature when they don’t believe in the doctrine of original sin?***
(41.)....................QUOTES ON PRAISE
Jack Carroll - 1956 - “When you see a beautiful suit on someone you don’t say, “Praise the tailor! You say, ‘Isn’t that a lovely garment?!’ Therefore, when you see a beautiful sunset it is foolish to say, “Praise the Lord.”
Willie Donaldson - 1st Olympia Convention Aug. 24, 1979 - “Hallelujah, Praise the Lord!” is an empty service, without meaning or expression when said in churches.”
Howard Mooney - Tacoma, WA - “God has placed a very responsible work in the hands of His servants. On our shoulders rests the care of the Lord’s people. We are responsible to see that people understand the Truth and fit into the Truth. We cannot be grateful enough for the workers who brought us the Truth and the workers whose health is practically shattered because they put more into this than they were able for our sakes.”
***(praise goes to the workers, not God)***
Tharold Sylvester - “The Lord is praised by the obedient lives of His faithful few.”
“We don’t worship Jesus because he was just a man, like us.”
(42.)....................QUOTES ON PRAYER
Boring gospel meeting - Oregon 10/20/87 - “Kneel quietly for one minute. Give thanks for the day. Remember what He brought you out of. Pray for your mate, relatives, co workers, yourself, weakness and pray for more godliness in your life. Pray for wisdom and revelation, workers, overseers, unity, government, health. Thank Him for preserving you. Pray to do God’s will and have patience.”
Bonnie Dahlin - Post Falls Convention Idaho 1971 - “Prayer doesn’t change things, it changes us.”
Marvel Krauss, Purcell Special Meeting, OK 1976 - “It is not how long we are on our knees but how long we carry the influence of prayer.”
Howard Mooney - Post Falls Convention ID 1959 - “The purpose of prayer is to go to God to get the things we can’t get along without. Supplication is to ward off the things that would be too much for us to face.”
Everett Swanson - Spokane Special Meeting WA 11/71 - “Prayer doesn’t benefit anyone except the one that offers it.”
Tharold Sylvester - “We never pray for natural things! Pray for virtues. God isn’t interested in our natural lives. He only cares about our spiritual lives!”
Tharold Sylvester - “Prayer is to be done in secret, not to be seen of men.”
(43.)....................QUOTES ON PROFESS
Sydney Holt - 6/27/84 - “God puts our name in the Book of Life when we profess and keeps our name there as long as we KEEP RIGHT. If, for some reason, our name is blotted out, God can still put it back again if we get right again. And in the end, if our name is there it means heaven, not hell.”
Ralph Sines - Wednesday night Bible study 1/12/66 - “Professing doesn’t mean you are just saved and ready for Heaven, it means you are learning of Christ or from Him, being willing to do His will.”
Eldon Tenniswood - March 10, 1985 Special Meeting Los Angeles, CA - “You can only profess through our ministry. You cannot know our Heavenly Father through the traditional church.”
George Walker - Crocknacrieve Convention 1910 - “We might ask you to profess to be saved and yet you could go to hell. Being saved means “right about face”, turning your back on that which leads you wrong.”
(44.)....................QUOTES ON RECREATION
Tharold Sylvester - “We are more interested in the Re-Creation than the Creation. Spiritual life is more important than natural life.”
George Walker - “Because of sin entering the world, God’s plan was changed. When man sinned God planned a Re-creation plan.”
(45.)....................QUOTES ON REPENTANCE
Jack Carroll - Los Angeles, CA August 1956 - “What is the nature of repentance as Christ understood and preached it? The simple meaning of the word “repent: is to change one’s mind and purpose. Not merely to repent of or forsake sin but to change one’s mind and apprehension regarding it. In Latin the word means to recover one’s senses to come to right understanding. A complete change out of a former mode of life to a new and different mode of life.” ***(he means repent of the Christian faith in the Blood of Jesus and believe the workers.)
Everett Swanson - Kelso, WA gospel meeting 1970 - “People are confused about what God’s mercy is. It isn’t just a kindness. God’s mercy is in giving us time to repent.”

Tharold Sylvester - “We don’t need to know about the return of Christ, we just need to be ready.”
Marion Thorburn - “If Jesus came back while you are at a movie or swimming on Sunday or something He wouldn’t approve of you will be lost.”
(48.)....................QUOTES ON SACRIFICE
Willie Donaldson - Parma Convention - 1979 - "God never asks us to do anything that is not reasonable. There are certain steps we will have to take alone when we leave this convention. Others can go with us a certain distance, but when it comes to the SACRIFICE and putting it on the altar, we usually do that alone before God. I remember a young girl coming to the West Indies in 1930. She was 29 years of age. Her father and mother came on board the ship and saw her off. The time came when the horn blew and all visitors had to leave. The father broke down and cried. He said, "Kathleen, we cannot go any further with you now, but we will be with you in our prayers." That young woman had one year in the West Indies. She died from a very severe tropical disease. That young woman was willing to put her life on the altar. She never saw her parents again. Abraham said, "I and the lad go yonder and worship." Worship without SACRIFICE doesn't mean anything to God. People can SACRIFICE without worship, but they cannot worship without SACRIFICE. They came to the place. Isaac said, "Father, you have the knife, you have the fire and you have the wood, but where is the offering?" His father said, "My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering." They both went on together.
Percy Fletcher - Olympia Convention 1957 - “The sacrifice comes first, then the light is seen.”

Rose Johnson - Post Falls 1972 - “The life makes the sacrifice acceptable.”
Neils Jorgensen - “We are only going to stand beneath the altar of the Living God by sacrifice – the altar of sacrifice, living for God. The thing that will keep our lives upon the altar of sacrifice is the love of God. If we lose the love of God we will have the spirit of rebellion.”
Ernest Nelson - Olympia Convention 8/24/79 - “Sacrifice was the foundation of the Truth. Absence (not going to meeting) can rob us of what sacrifice can bring us.”
Gary Rathbun - Devon, MT 1977 - “There are two different prices to be paid. The price paid by someone else for us (the worker) and the price we must pay.”
Ralph Sines 1/10/66 - “God will only accept a living sacrifice.”
Richard Sullivan - Post Falls 1971 - “Without sacrifice there is no true worship.”
Eldon Tenniswood 1/17/71 - “Until people are willing to lay aside all former teaching and become as a little child, they will never understand the Truth as taught by Jesus in Word and Deed.”
Gladys Weir - Hayden Lake Convention - “We cannot possess (profess) until the price is paid, which is our all. The more it costs us the more we value it.

(49.)....................QUOTES ON SALVATION

Garth Cook - Ronan Convention MT 1973 - “Reconciled by His death, saved by His life, (His example life, His example ministry).”
John Cook, Special Meeting, Boston, MA 5/57 - “this is salvation – that we are able to master ourselves.”
John Cook - Boston - Massachusetts 1957 - “What is salvation? To begin with, it is God’s deliverance in our lives. It is God giving us victory in our hearts over ourselves. Again salvation is the continuation of the destruction of sin in yourself. Maybe when a person first heard the Gospel he made a great attempt to destroy sin within himself. He may not be doing just as much at it now. If we destroy sin in ourselves, nothing around us can destroy us. Nothing can master a person, who, by the grace of God is mastering himself. This is salvation – being able to master ourselves. That means being the master of yourself in all things. Do not be discouraged by the fact that not many people are willing to go in for this salvation. God is looking for quality, not quantity.”
Eddie Cornock - Denver, CO 1965 - “There is a price to pay. May God help us to be willing to pay the price.”

Neils Jorgensen - Walla Walla, WA 1970 - “It is done one stitch at a time and as you work on it, the pattern takes shape. We have to work on our salvation daily and one bit at a time. Unless we work on it, it won’t get done.”
Charlie Krub - Spokane Special Meeting 1955 - “If we are willing, we can be worthy.”
Dallas Linnaman - Gilroy, CA 1981 - “Hebrews 11 is the faith chapter. This tells us what these people did through faith. It was what they DID about their faith that saved them. Faith without works is dead. It is through our works by which we are saved.”
Jackie Meeks - Post Falls, ID 1972 - “Obedience resulted in Jesus being made perfect. Our salvation results in obedience to the Father.”

Everett Wilcox - personal letter 1984 - “The apostle stands between God and sinful men.”
Everett Wilcox - personal letter 1984 - “There would be many saved people if the written word could give life, but it takes the Living Word (workers) to produce Life that is eternal.”
Fred Wood, 1985 speaking of Eddie Cooney acting as a medium for him after he died. - “The words revealed to me through Jesus through Eddie Cooney to me. I will help you more when I am gone.”
(53.)....................QUOTES ON SECRECY - MYSTERY
Brother worker - Olympia Convention 1980 - “The church is like the earthworm, it sweetens sour soil and makes it productive. It is humble and its only safety is in keeping hidden underground. If it pokes its head out of the ground a bird can see it and eat it. ”
E. Robinson - 1989 McCordsville End Convention, Indiana, U.S.A.
"I have had people virtually mock us, especially religious people ministering in the religious world and others when they found out how we go out preaching. Oh, if this is supposed to be the Truth, if this is really the way of God, why don't you go out and advertise it - who even knows about this? Get out and advertise and let everybody know. How are people going to get to know about it?
There is one thing I am thankful for and that is that the way of God has been devised that diamonds can be found in the most accurate, most affective way in the whole world. There is nothing in the whole world that can touch it or come even near to it, and I'll explain why. It's amazing and absolutely perfectly effective - if there's a diamond somewhere you can be quite sure that it will be found. You may remember in the last chapter of 1 Kings, you read about Ahab going to battle and he disguised himself. In fact he let another man there put on his change of raiment so that nobody would guess that he was the King. He did not want an arrow shot at him. But you know what happened that day? We read that a man pulled a bow at a venture (it says in the margin, in his simplicity he just pulled a bow). I suppose just hoping that it might hit somebody of the enemy - and you know what happened? In his simplicity he did that but God had already decided that Ahab's last day had come. God had decided and so when that man pulled the bow in simplicity, God himself took over that arrow and directed it. Can you think of anything more deadly? There is absolutely no chance of a miss. God himself directed that arrow and that was the end of King Ahab. Now that is how the gospel works. It's so quiet nobody in the world knows about it, but some of the greatest miracles that are happening - no less are these miracles than the miracles you read about in the Bible. Right under your eyes, but God has done it so quietly and so amazingly that most people in the world, and most of our friends even don't know a thing about what's going on.
In OTHER words:....when God sees an honest soul, God himself directs and brings that person in contact with His servants......" etc...
Jack Carroll - “The Truth’s biggest enemies are the ones who have left the Way.”
Jack Price - “Dear Staff: There is a matter we feel we must bring to your attention so that you will be aware of what has recently taken place. This concerning ________ who will not longer be working in this area. In regard to this change we would encourage everyone to say nothing to those who do not ask and just as little as possible to those who do. The less said the quicker things will settle down. However, when necessary, you can tell people that the older workers have arranged that ________ will not return to Manitoba to labor in the work, but they have suggested to him that he remain with his ailing parents until convention time, at which time further consideration will be given by the ministry regarding ________ feelings and purposes about remaining in the work in Alberta. Your brother in Christ, Jack Price January 16, 1984.”
- All worker lists and address lists usually contain the note “Do not make copies.”
Walter Pollack - 1983 - “Burn anything that is not signed. Get rid of it, notes that do not have signatures, the FBI article in particular.”
Los Angeles, CA Special meeting - March 10, 1985 - “Be careful how you answer people’s questions. We don’t want to cast our pearls before swine. Be as wily as serpents and as gentle as doves. We must never seek publicity, we must keep ourselves hidden and apart from the corrupt world.
Kathleen Holland, one of the early workers, after 50 years in the work admitted to people that she personally knew “Eddie Cooney”. She related several stories about “Eddie” and finished saying, “If anyone ever asks about Eddie, you tell them that NO SUCH MAN EVER LIVED!” March 1982, California, personal conversation
When Edward Cooney was excommunicated hundreds of other people were excommunicated at the same time when they objected to the change in his status. These people became the Cooneyites. At first they frequently visited 2x2 conventions but were not allowed to give their testimonies and they were watched like hawks to see who they talk to. Workers were stationed behind and around them and if they attempted to stand up during the testimony time they were pulled down physically. The workers grabbed their clothing and forced them to sit down. Shunning and whispered lies were told about them behind their backs.
When people carried signs opposing meetings and conventions outside their entrances, the workers would call the police to try to have them arrested, but the police told them that it was not illegal to express personal opinions and display information.
The friends and workers were taught to destroy old address lists, documents and old Hymnbooks, even old Bibles which contain any worker notes or names in them. When a professing person died, their relatives were asked to destroy all their old letters and notes. They were warned not to let anything fall into the hands of their enemies. The friends don’t know who the enemy is and assume maybe the workers are referring to atheists. But the workers actually are afraid that ex 2x2s and Christians will confront their lies, their unbiblical beliefs and historical origin in Masonry. They especially were afraid of the Impartial Reporter Newspaper articles. And they don’t want the public to find out about their many immoralities and the way they deal with people who question their bad decisions. Professing people are so accustomed to this secrecy that they don’t realize that real Christians don’t hide their beliefs.
Elizabeth Jamieson, personal letter 1969. - “In 1920, Mabel Pryor and I went to Vancouver Island. At that time, there were no friends north of Victoria. Here we discovered a man of the Plymouth Brethren sect who was going from house to house, influencing people against us. His favorite salutation when he met anyone was, “Are you saved?” He accused me of being a ‘Cooneyite.’ I pretended I didn’t know what he meant, letting on that the only coney I knew about was the little animal spoken about in the book of Proverbs. And of course, he was against women preachers. But in spite of all, a little church was formed at Sandwick. I am happy to say that the children and the grandchildren are still going on in that little church.”
Everett Swanson, Olympia Convention - “I would rather that you did not record what is said in meeting. If you want to remember what is said in this meeting, the Holy Spirit will bring it to your remembrance. There are people who are trying to collect information about what we believe.”
“We shun all publicity, for any written material could get into the wrong hands. We must protect ourselves. We must keep ourselves hidden and apart from this corrupt world. Don’t write anything that you don’t want someone to see.” Willie Jameison’s instructions to young workers.
- Professing people were told to deny that William Irvine or Edward Cooney were ever part of this church. Some went so far as to say that no such people ever existed. ”
(54.)....................QUOTES ON SELF-DENIAL
Arnold Blonke - Glenn Valley Convention, August 4, 1988 - “Self denial is the part of our service that brings eternal life.”
Andrew Abernathy - Salmon Arm Convention, BC 1963 - ”God has made provision that in our own generation by abiding in Him, we can receive divine life. Morning by morning I can take my life and place it in the midst of the heart of God to draw from the wells of salvation, to receive of His divine Spirit, to receive the quickening of divine Life, that power that raised Jesus from the dead. We can receive grace that will help us to walk in his way and have wisdom that is divine. IT MEANS NOTHING LESS THAN A COMPLETE RENUNCIATION OF ALL THAT WE ARE.”
(55.)....................QUOTES ON SEMINARY
Senior worker - 7/1266 - “A seminary is where they bury the bible. The traditions of men keep them bound and lead them to hell. Most good works are dead works because they are not rooted in the faith of God. They expect something in return.”
Tharold Sylvester - “Seminaries are cemeteries. Full of dead people
(56.)....................QUOTES ON SIN AND REPENTANCE
Edward Cooney - Crocknacrieve, Northern Ireland, August 1909 - “Mostly all denominations and religions knew what sin was and had believed Jesus had died for sin. But the devil had deceived men and women on this point all along the years.”
Jan Demmon - personal conversation. Seattle, WA - “The workers have tried to get people to stop sinning and it just doesn’t work. People just keep on sinning.”
Muriel Erickson - Boring Convention, OR 9/1/79 - “Our price is submission so He can cleanse us from sin.”
Garrett Hughes - Florida Special Meeting. 1987 - “Your sins are not forgiven just by the preacher.”
William Irvine - Personal letter to Loitz’ June 3, 1930 - “Transgressions, sin, iniquity and guile are all various marks of what we need to get rid of to enjoy his best and our own thoughts about others’ transgressions and sins is more dangerous to us than their transgressions and sins are to them.”
William Irvine - “Sin is the scar that men see.” (He was more concerned with hiding the scar than removing it.)
William Irvine - Crocknacrieve Convention - “If there was anything pure in the human family it was a little baby, and nothing makes me so made as to hear people speak of it being born in original sin.”
David Jennings - Orange County CA 1966 - “Remember, we all have failings and God does not make us accountable for our weaknesses.”
Howard Mooney - Walla Walla Convention 1959 - “An unrighteous person is one who doesn’t worship God in the right Way or think the right thoughts. “
Jackie Meeks - “Jesus had a sinful nature and the potential is there for us to overcome our flesh just as He did if we walk in His Way. He learned obedience through suffering. We can do the same. Obedience resulted in Jesus being made perfect. Our salvation results in obedience to the Father.”
Tharold Sylvester - Olympia Convention 1962 - “We all have different personalities that are tempted in different ways. We don’t receive temptation in all points. Jesus was born with the worst personality in all the world. None of us have had to contend with all temptations as Jesus did. Jewish people have the worst personalities of anyone I have ever met and I can understand why Jesus had so much trouble with temptations!”
Tharold Sylvester - Olympia, WA - “Immorality and drunkenness are of the flesh rather than the devil. False religion is of Satan and we are more concerned with the danger of false religion than immorality.”
****(The biggest sin anyone can commit is to disagree with the workers.)****
(57.)....................QUOTES ON THE SPIRIT
Jack Carroll - “God’s true servants get their messages from the Spirit, not from study. We are the mouthpiece of God.”
Santee Convention - CA 9/14/73 - “It was not what he did or how but the Spirit in which he did it.”
Santee Convention, CA 9/10 - “I could see it wasn’t a matter of dogma or a religion that, well, it’s this way and there’s nothing else. I saw it was a Spirit I had that had to be changed. Then when the Spirit got changed, everything got to be different.”
Shirley Doolittle - Olympia Convention 9/70 - “Revelation only comes through the Spirit.”
Brett Hammett - Santee Convention CA, 9/12/81 - “In order to dwell in the house of the Lord, we have to enter and Jesus says we enter by becoming a child. To remain in the house of God, we must keep a child like spirit.”
Harry Holland - “In 1 John 4:16 John is not speaking about what any person professes but about the WAY the Spirit in a person confesses.”
Sydney Holt - “The churches are not all that different from us but they don’t have the Spirit we have.”
David Jennings - “The Lord is very interested that this right Spirit might be enjoyed by His people because the Spirit they have is their hope of heaven.”
Bea Mookini - Personal conversation - Spokane, WA - “Sometimes I use the Spirit and nature of Christ -- Jesus Spirit or the Spirit that convicted us of sin – That would be the Holy Spirit or the Spirit of God that enables us to --- that draws us by His Spirit by His nature. The Bible says no man cometh to the Father except the Father draw him and I may be speaking about God’s Spirit which is different than the Holy Spirit.”
Willis Propp - Devon Convention, MT 1977 - “The Spirit is more than words we speak to people. It’s the Spirit. The Spirit can make the difference whether some people follow the path of God or not.”
Wilson Reid - Ebe Convention, Holland - “The Bible mentions Spirit, soul and body. The Spirit is the most important to the Lord because it is the spirit that returns to God.”
Spokane Special Meeting - Washington 12/11/49 - “We become the house or dwelling place of the Spirit of God….a three story house….body, soul and Spirit.”
Tharold Sylvester - “Having meeting in a home doesn’t save us, preachers going two by two doesn’t save us. We are saved because we have the right Spirit. You can only get the right Sprit from the ministry which is dying to self as Jesus did. You must get the Spirit from us.”
Eldon Tenniswood - Personal letter from 2/17/71 - “I hope you have made an inward surrender to the Lord so that you can accept the teachings as they are given through the Holy Spirit from His servants. There is a necessity for us to lay aside all our thoughts and our reasonings and accept what God teaches us through His Spirit.” (through the workers)
Fred Wood - Personal letter from Fred Wood - 1/13/82“We were taught by Edward Cooney that so long as we obey the Spirit of Christ in us that the Holy Spirit rests upon us. But if we disobey then the Holy Spirit is withdrawn.
(58.)....................QUOTES ON SUBMISSION
(Next to the 2x2 ministry, the topic of submission or dying to self is the most common topic heard at meetings.)
Herbert Childers, Seneca, Illinois Convention - August 16-19, 1973 - Friday A.M. - " One of our friends has what we thought was a terrible disease and was suffering. One of the workers was by his bedside and looked out of the window at a herd of white faced cattle grazing and said, "You have a nice herd." That man said, "Those cattle don't mean anything to me now, All that means anything to me is my hope in God." We are coming to that. Isn't it worthwhile? The struggles, the battles, the self-denial, the hardness that comes for Jesus sake? Wouldn't it be worthwhile to be true and face it, and be faithful, and when breathing our last to know that the inheritance will be ours forever?
Herbert Childers, Seneca, Illinois Convention, August 16-19, 1973 - Friday A.M. - "In the 33 1/2 years, He never pleased Himself. John 6:38, "I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of Him that sent me." He never did His own will one time. He did the will of the Father. He accomplished His purpose and one day on the cross of Calvary, He could cry, "It is finished." "The work you gave me to do is finished." "It is accomplished." "It will mean SUBMISSION, it will mean humbling ourselves, it will mean saying, yes to Jesus, but at the end, we will say, "I could have gone so much farther and done so much more."
Some folks who were going to a convention, weren't sure of the way and they inquired at a station. The attendant there said, "You are on the right road, but haven't gone far enough." Could we say, we are on the right road but haven't gone far enough? May God find us going on and on!"
Muriel Erickson, Boring, OR convention 1979 "Our price is submission so He can cleanse us from sin. Trust God. Don't allow any reasoning in your own hearts to disturb your faith." (submission instead of repentance)
Bill Hunter - Gospel meeting, Aug. 15, 1965 - “To get into the Kingdom of God we must humble ourselves and we must die to the things of the world.”
Ernest Nelson - Post Falls 1967 - “We need to remember, God doesn’t just give us things. He expects something from us in return.”
Jack Nelson - Gospel Meeting, Bonner’s Ferry, ID - “We can only obtain a divine nature by submitting.” (to the workers)
John Mastin - Devon, MT 1977 - “One thing necessary for the Kingdom to be preserved is for us to be willing to deny self and submit. If God can’t find people willing to deny self, it won’t work.

Eldon Tenniswood personal letter 1971 - “I hope you have made an inward surrender to the Lord so that you can accept the teachings as they are given through the Holy Spirit from His servants. Howard Mooney - 1977 - “God never intended that men and women would go through the heartaches that average people go through.”
(60.)....................QUOTES ON TRINITY
Fred Allen - Post Falls Convention 1989 - “In the world there is the ARGUMENT of the Trinity. The Catholics believe in One Person. But Jesus said, “That they may be one as we are one. Jesus was saying that Peter, James and John are one as we are one. This was a number of people with one heart, mind and spirit to do one thing. There is one mind and heart of Father, Son and Spirit. It is important to have unity of heart and mind and spirit to do the will of God as Jesus was to do the Father’s will.
Dale Bors - Sacramento, CA 1979 - “It depends on who we are talking to whether we believe in the Trinity or not.”
Dan Hilton - Washington, 1985 - “The word Trinity is not found in the Bible. It is a Catholic doctrine that wasn’t even mentioned by the early Christians. It wasn’t heard of until the second century.
Sydney Holt - 1980 - “The Trinity is one in purpose, but not in essence.
Willis Propp - Devon, 1977 - “God, Jesus and Spirit are one in that they are united but not one in single personality.”

- (The workers and friends DO NOT know what the doctrine of the Trinity is.)

Harry Mooridian - 1980 Santee, CA - “For the spirit and attitude you assume toward those that have made themselves poor, homeless and strangers for the Gospel’s sake will ultimately determine where you will be in eternity. I have only one life on the earth and all eternity depends on how I spend that one life.”
Vernon Myers - Olympia 1 Convention August 23, 1979 - “Acts 5:32, forgiveness is only given to those who obey God by coming to the meetings, supporting His true ministers and living according to His standards.”

Eddie Cornock - Denver Convention, CO 1965 - “There is a price to pay. May God help us to be willing to pay the price.”
Velma Filener - Boring Convention 1988 - “God wants us to be satisfied with being a servant. The condition of a servant is obedience and willingness.
Willie Jameison - Post Falls Convention 1960 - “But! But! But!!! These people make me sick. They are always butting! Just like a bunch of goats and you know where the goats end up!”
Charlie Krub - Spokane Special Meeting, 1955 - “If we are willing, we can be worthy.”
Tharold Sylvester - Spokane Special Meeting 12.20/81 - The cure for every sin starts with willingness.”
Eldon Tenniswood - 1971 - “Until people are willing to lay aside all former teaching, become as little children, they never will understand the Truth as taught by Jesus, in word and deed.”
(63.)....................QUOTES ON WORKERS
Jack Price - Salmon Arm Convention 2009 - “There is a 7 link chain that must not be broken. It starts with God, then the Son, the Holy Spirit, the angels, the ministry, the elders and then the friends. Remove one link and this way will not work. Some people say we don’t need the ministry anymore. But if you remove the link of the ministry people cannot have a relationship with God, all links must be in place.” (Subject of sermon was about professing people who don’t attend gospel meetings.)
(64.)....................QUOTES ON WORKS
- What do the workers mean by the word “works”? It means to take care of the workers, imitate the workers in clothing styles, hair styles, defer to the workers in all things.
Eldon Tenniswood - Ronan Convention, Montana 6/15/73 - “There is only one way to show the love of Christ. Do what I can for fellow servants.

quotes:
I have looked with a fine toothed comb over these worker quotes and cannot find one that is Biblical
and doctrinally sound.
Some are so far off the wall, it makes me cry.
