VOT Statement of Faith

We Believe:

(1.) That the Bible is the inerrant and inspired word of God. This means that the some 40 authors of Scripture who wrote spanning some 1600 years, one book that contains 66 books, all wrote with singular agreement upon the nature of the one True God -- that there are NO contradictions contained within those 66 books and as such, is a marvelous illustration of writings that are obviously BEYOND the scope of human minds, the Bible also in many places claims of itself to be the word of God.

(2.) That the gospel of the Bible is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, preached by all of the apostles of Jesus Christ just as clearly spelled out in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.

(3.) That God the Father is maker of heaven and earth. He is omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (all-knowing), and omnipresent (everywhere at once).  He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-wise.  His very nature is love. Genesis 1:1Matthew 6:9; Romans 8:14-15; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 1 Corinthians 15:24

(4.) That Jesus Christ is God in human flesh, the second person of the triune God of Scripture.

(5.) That the Holy Spirit is God who indwells all believers, the third person of the triune God of Scripture.

(6.) That the three persons of the one true God are all co-equal and co-eternal -- one God who has revealed Himself fully as three distinct persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

(7.) That Salvation is a gift of God's Grace and cannot be obtained through works. Salvation is by faith alone, through grace alone, in Jesus Christ alone. John 1:12; Acts 16:30-33; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-9 All who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and believe in their heart that God raised "HIM" from the dead, will be saved. Salvation is freely given to those who put their faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

(8.) That Satan is the deceiver who enticed man to sin.  He comes to kill, steal, and destroy and is destined to eternal punishment. Genesis 3; John 10:102 Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 20:10

"A community of Jesus which seeks to to hide itself has ceased to follow Him." ---- By Deitrich Bonhoeffer

"Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself."
— C.S. Lewis (Mere Christianity)
