  (J)

    Jehovah

The name of God as used in the King James Bible. This name is not thought about in particular, nor often used by the Two-by-Twos (except when speaking of Jehovah's Witnesses). The name used for God is "God" or "the Father." Where the word "God" is used by a member or worker, it exclusively refers to "the Father," never to Jesus.

Jehovah's Witness

The mortal enemies of the Two-by-Twos, and the one religious organization that knows Two-by-Twos best.

(My dad once threatened to throw his hammer at a couple of ladies who were too persistent.)

In actual fact, a close examination of the beliefs of both groups shows a great deal in common.

Jerusalem

Spiritual Jerusalem is believed to be the Two-by-Two church in the opinion of many of them; especially when they gather at their annual Conventions.

The Jews lost their city, and the Two-by-Twos just picked it up, nationality and all - including the claim to be "God's chosen people."

Jesus Christ

Seldom is it that a worker will mention "Jesus" and "Christ" in conjunction - they use both words, but seldom together, which is more significant than one might imagine.

I believe that the majority of workers who have even bothered to think about it hold the opinion that "Christ" refers to that Spirit that descended on Jesus at His baptism. This would mean that they have separated Jesus from Christ in a way very similar to the Christian Scientists.(50b) They also often use the proper nouns "Jesus" and "Christ" as adjectives to describe themselves and their traditions (e.g., "the Christ Spirit," or "the Jesus Way ") - something quite foreign to the Scriptures. I will discuss in greater detail, who they say Jesus is in the section of Chapter Nine, headed "Christology." (50b) David Stone. "The Church Without a Name". p.15. See also, "Manifest."

Jew

The Jews had their land taken from them and were scattered all over the earth by God because they turned away from Him. The Jewish people's loss of the homeland God has promised them pales in comparison to what has been taken from them by the Two-by-Twos, however. The Two-by-Twos have appropriated their inheritance, nationality, their favored position before God, and their future.

So far as the workers are concerned, the Jews finally angered God to the degree that He will have nothing to do with them ever again, and has bestowed the heritage and promises made by God to Israel upon the Two-by-Twos alone.

Joy

This is where my dry humor could easily take over. but I shall try to suppress it. On the one hand, we have workers preaching that we must sacrifice our joy on the altar, in order that we be able to receive a reward of equal joy from God after death. On the other hand we have a few hundred thousand people on this globe who claim to have great joy, but are in reality never happy, and go about their daily life with sullen faces and a sad countenance. We learned to speak in monotones, and to be emotionless, dead serious most of the time. We learned to speak softly in terms of decibel level, but when angered, we were as likely to use foul language at the top of our lungs as anyone else. I had better stop here, you have the basics.

The really sad thing about this is that peoples' lives are ruined, with the very real possibility of a lost eternity as well.

Judaiser

One very rarely hears this word from a worker.

Any worker that would use this word would do so as a condemnatory phrase against any kind of Christian or Jewish tradition. These traditions are thought to have been condemned by Jesus, rather than that Jesus was pointing out that a few elite Jews held their traditions in a higher regard than God's commandments. Because of the workers ' opinions on this, all tradition is condemned - however, they can somehow ignore their own traditions.

Judaism

Very little (if anything at all) is understood regarding the Jewish religion and its past, present or future place in God's plan. Judaism is condemned on the grounds of traditionalism and ritual-keeping. The sacrificial system is not understood to be a foreshadowing of Christ, and the sacrifice of Christ is not understood as the fulfillment of the law's ultimate requirement. Nor do they understand the clear prophecies in the Bible that the Jewish system will continue, with God's approval, on Earth and continues in a form in heaven to allow us access to God.

The Two-by-Twos believe that the sacrifice which Christ became on the cross is merely to exemplify the sacrifice that each person must make for himself.

This had to be "spiritualized" in order to escape the obvious logical conclusion that each should, then, be required to make an identical sacrifice; i.e., that every person must die on a cross. It has been interpreted or spiritualized down within reach of the common man by the claim that it is typical of the total dedication of one's self to the church in the case of a non-preaching member, and the forsaking of all possessions by those who preach.

Justify

The act of vindicating a proposal, for an intended goal.

For example, lies, half truths, and deception are "justified" if converts are gained for their church by using them.

Justification before God is believed to be by merit, not by grace.
