All the hesitations in the senior Worker's sermons
I was puzzled as I sat in these 'gospel meetings' in 1996 by the far greater number of hesitant sentences said by Terry Wells. And I recall that while I was a member of the 2x2s, this same preaching 'method' puzzled me even then. One might think that after years of preaching these senior Workers would let their sermons fly off their tongues like melted butter.
But consider this for a moment and see if you think it fits well as I do now.
The Two-by-Two preachers have always believed that their sermons are the very words of God given to them AS they are speaking -- as if they were getting those messages on a teletype from God's throne. So I think that the hesitations in their sermons are intended, as some mysterious form of emphasis -- i.e., 'just a second - the message is not completely in yet.'
