THE BUZZARD::
If you put a buzzard in a pen that is 6 feet by 8 feet and is entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 10 to 12 feet.
Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top.
THE BAT::
The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkable nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air.
Then, at once, it takes off like a flash.
THE BUMBLEBEE::
A bumblebee, if dropped into an open tumbler, will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom.
It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself.
PEOPLE::
In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat, and the bumblebee when we are trapped in religiosity.
We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations of trying to be perfect and trying to measure up to what others say we must do to get to heaven,.....performing "WORKS," never realizing that all we have to do is look up!
"Therefore no one will be declared righteous in His sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin."
Believing Jesus paid it all is at the foundation of Christianity.
It is based on the faith that God sent Jesus Christ as His Son to earth and that Jesus was crucified on a cross and rose to life again to pay the debt for sin. This was His purpose. We have all sinned against God and He provided the only way for atonement.
Jesus was sent as our Savior to pay this debt. God offers this gift for each of us and all we must do is accept His grace and forgiveness. In doing this, we acknowledge that Jesus is Lord, has taken on our debt and paid it all for us.
This knowledge gets you up and out of the cage……off the flat ground…….out of jail….and sets you free from the bondage of religiosity and man-made ideas!
In your own strength,
You cannot MAINTAIN your salvation anymore than you can ATTAIN your salvation!!
Are you trapped?
Are you afraid to push on the sides of the box you are living in?
God is the judge, and humanity is the offender. The judge is the only one who can name the penalty, and the offender is the only one who can pay the atonement. Therefore, in order to pay the atonement on behalf of humanity, God had to become human. The penalty has been paid in full, and the decision to accept the payment on your behalf is yours.
- Sorrow looks back;
- Worry looks around;
- but Faith
- looks up!
Jesus did not ask us to follow men and religion,
He asked us to follow Him.
Jesus told us who He was – He didn’t mince words.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.”
Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in our Creator who loves us.
