Common Myths About "Mind Control"

Cult members often say to their families and friends,
"No one orders me around. I choose to do what I do.'

Getting members to think that way is one of the manipulations mastered by cult leaders who have become skillful at getting acts carried out through indirection and implication.
- - - Margaret Thaler Singer - - "Cults In Our Midst"

Heed Peter's urgent call,
"Always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who
calls you to account to the hope that is in you.
Yet do it with gentleness and reverence, "

Myth # 1:

"Real" Christians can't be fooled by religious cults.

  • FALSE!!! Christians, pastors, theological students and professors can become involved in religious cults, given the right conditions, false information and deception.

Myth # 2:

Only uneducated or emotionally troubled people get involved in religious cults.

  • FALSE!!! Very sophisticated, wealthy people, college professors, college students, well adusted, intelligent people are deceived into religious cults every year.
  • Idealism and wealth are often taken advantage of by cult leaders who usually aren't interested in uneducated or troubled people.

Myth # 3:

Mind control and brainwashing are the same thing.

  • FALSE!!! Mind control is accomplished through subtle, friendly persuasion. Brainwashing is done against one's will by a known enemy. Different methods are used.

Myth # 4:

Cult involvement happens to "other people", not to me or my family.

  • FALSE!!! Religious cults are common dangers to every one of us. Many families are broken by them. Society, culture, even nations are affected by them. And the eternal consequences to souls can never be tallied.

Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life and there are few that find it." (New King James Version)

This is a perfect example of how the workers use scripture to oppose scripture. They ignore the whole book or topic that is being spoken on and focus on one or two verses that sounds like it supports their "Way."

Chapter 7 starts out saying don't judge others so you won't be judged.

Don't criticize others until you have looked at yourself.

Don't give what is holy to dogs because they won't respect it.

Ask and it will be given you, seek and you will find it. God wants to give you what you need. The Father in Heaven will give good things to those who ask.

Verse 12: Whatever you want men to do to you, do for them. This is the Law and the Prophets. Then these verses 13 and 14 are talking about Jesus who is the narrow gate. In comparison to all the people in the world who are trying to please God or the gods by their own efforts, Jesus is truly a narrow Way.

Getting to heaven by faith in Jesus Christ is the only Way.

And not very many people in the world believe, worship and obey Him.

Not very many respect what He did for them on the Cross.

Very few know that He is God our Creator and Savior.

The workers believe they are the only Way. Proof of this is that they mock Christians who believe Jesus is the only Way. The workers have said the word "strait" means difficult. That definitely sounds like their way because obeying them is really difficult. But actually the word means difficult and dangerous, like the straits in the ocean where water rushes between rocks.

Being a real Christian is dangerous because people dislike Christians.

William Irvine disliked Christians and turned against them and did everything in his power to turn others against Christians. Jesus told his disciples that the world will hate you because it first hated me.

The world hates Christians because Christians remind them that they are sinners who need to repent of their sins.

That they need to have their sins paid for by trusting in the Blood of Jesus.

William Irvine didn't like sin even being mentioned.

And he and Cooney both said that trusting in the blood of Jesus wasn't enough. Workers don't talk about sin, they only emphasize meetings in the home, 2x2 workers and rules for appearance and lifestyle. Look at the attacks on Christians in the middle east, Asia, Africa, India and places where Christianity is in the minority. In Europe Christians were hunted down and killed just as much as the Jews were for thousands of years. Only in the west where Christian influence was protected by the Christians who started America have we had relative peace for only 200 years or so. In relation to the rest of history and the world, Christians are endangered and in a minority. There is a publication known as Voice of the Martyrs that tells what Christians are suffering around the world right at this moment. Difficulty for Christians is still a way of life in most places.

Now the tide is turning in America. There is a big backlash against Christians. The Jews also are coming under attack again around the world.

The New Age, homosexuals, atheism, witches, Hollywood, the media, Islam, Scientology, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc. all would love to see Christians removed from the earth.

Even our colleges and universities continually mock God's Word, His right as our Creator to direct our lives. Right now there is a movie coming out designed to make people believe that Jesus was immoral and a deceiver. The Da Vinci Code, and some other book titled the Gospel of Judas have all been written to destroy people's trust in Jesus and God's Holy Scripture.

Professing people haven't been told anything about Revelation or the Old Testament prophecies about the second coming of Christ. Real Christians are aware of the coming conflict. If the workers were caring pastors they would be warning people of the coming wrath. Anyway, back to Matthew 7. The next verses after the ones about the strait gate is a warning against false prophets, who come in sheep's clothing, but are inwardly, ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Now this is a real description of the workers "Way."

In verse 21 Jesus said "not everyone who calls on His Name will enter heaven. He said I will tell them Depart from Me, you who work iniquity (or practice lawlessness)." In other words those who continue sinning while they claim to be believers.

This includes workers and professing people, many who continue as slaves to sin, just covering their activities or attitudes with a show of going to meeting and acting supersweet in their superficial relationships and ignorance of the Bible.

Then Jesus says whoever hears my Words and does them is wise. In another place he said, "If you continue in my Word, you are my disciples indeed." The workers have destroyed professing people's understanding of scripture so that many are believing and doing the opposite of what it commands. Any professing person or worker who begins to realize this will be accused of being mentally off or of the devil. Read Proverbs and James. Now back to the idea about the numbers of people who will be in heaven. Look in Revelation in chapter 19-22 you will see that the number of people in heaven is an enormous amount of people. It isn't just a piddling amount of professing people, most of whom eventually get shoved out, excommunicated or ignored or treated so badly that they just quit going to meeting. So their numbers really get shaved down. Just think how many people would be following the workers if they didn't push them out all the time.

God would like all people to be saved.

The workers only want a few.

It doesn't glorify the Father, Jesus or the Holy Spirit if only a tiny amount of people are saved. Revelation points out that sorcerors, adulterers, fornicators, thieves, liars, idolaters, murderers and those who did not repent will be the ones who go into the Lake of Fire.

If the workers were right, God could have just said, All those who don't meet in homes and follow the 2x2 workers will go to the Lake of Fire.

One big problem with the workers is that they don't really teach what they do believe.

They just teach what they don't believe.

They don't believe the Bible.

They don't worship the God of the Bible and they don't obey the Bible.

And why haven't more people noticed this? Those who do are kicked out or they leave.

Be a crazy Christian, Praise the Lord and tell the workers that you want to praise the Lord and they aren't doing that. So you have to leave.
