Doctrines of Men

Elders' Meetings - Not Meetings of Elders, but Workers' Indoctrination of Elders Meetings

Introductory Notes by Lloyd Fortt,

October 16, 2008

I received the following transcript of Howard Mooney’s

presentation to an Elders’ meeting held in 1960.

In my day among the 2x2s I never heard anything about Elders’ meetings,

and certainly the common member

was never told what goes on in such meetings – so this transcript is very interesting to me.

From it, I now understand that Elders’ meetings are not held between Elders alone. They are called together and attended by Workers who then speak to a group of Elders as their overseers. And that causes me to wonder whether Elders can or ever do call their own Elders meetings where there are no Workers invited.

This is to offer you my profound apology to you in front of the world.

In 1989-90, I received a package of letters in which there was information regarding the issue of sexual abuse involving Bob Ingram.

And with it was a copy of a letter from head Workers to Alaska that cited you for some undisclosed “doctrinal” difference with them.

And among those letters was one that cited both Bob Ingram and yourself involving CSA.

The Ballad of the Workers of Northern Ireland!

I must agree with _ _ _ _ _ 's suggestion that you will

find John Johnston very helpful.

He was certainly very helpful to me.

In fact, he was SO helpful to me,

that halfway through a visit to my home,

I made up my mind never to have anything to do with the 2x2 church again.

During his visit, Mr. Johnston helped me to realize that the foundation of the “the truth” was based upon a lie and that the senior workers would go to any length to deceive people into believing that it wasn't.

He also managed to conduct himself in such a manner, that I also came to realize that the senior worker's self-constructed image of themselves as God's only true servants, humble and childlike, etc., was nothing but a great big joke.

The "No Church Building" Doctrine Refuted!

Did Jesus mean for people to

“ONLY”

meet in homes?

The article below, by William E. Paul, will shed some light on this question.

Jack Carroll - 1921 - Seven Conditions of Fellowship

I have greatly enjoyed reading over the Epistles of John and meditation on all it means to live in the fellowship with the Father, the Son, and the other members of the family of God.

FELLOWSHIP is the main theme of all three Epistles and in the first two chapters of the first Epistle, there are at least seven conditions laid down which if we fulfill will enable us to enjoy more and more of this Fellowship.

It is possible for any child of God to fulfill these seven conditions.

(1.)   Loyalty "to that which was from the beginning."

The word "beginning" occurs seven times in the first two chapters of the Epistle. I John 1:1; 2:7; 13, 14, 24. It is very evident that John had in his mind those referred to in ch. 2:18, 19, 26, who had gone out from the true fellowship by departing from "that which was from the beginning," and were now seeking to "seduce" others.

I seem always to be three days and six subjects behind.

We read with interest the Harry Brownlee sermon and now the discussion of Leslie White. Having known Harry since I was a child and having Leslie in our state for many years, I know them both to be very intelligent AND charismatic in their speaking and (at least in private conversation) to be openminded, in comparison to many other workers.

In one-on-one visits with Leslie, you might even be amazed at some of the things you would hear.

Or would "THINK" you are hearing!

He is a MASTER at making you believe that he is ACTUALLY saying what you THINK he is saying!!!

Whatever concerns they might agree with (in private conversation) it cannot be spoken from the platform. There is no single worker who has enough power to take a position that strays radically from the party line.

(This makes it an unchanging way??!!!??)

What Am I to Believe is True?

You say you are homeless, penniless, without reputation, the true servants of God.

  • Yet you allow your followers to house, support and almost worship you.

You say you are from the beginning,

Celibacy Doesn’t Mean Chastity

Webster’s dictionary defines Celibacy as “the state of being unmarried.” Chastity’ is defined as “abstention from unlawful sexual activity: moral purity.” Celibacy and Chastity are not necessarily synonymous.

When William Irvine decided to require celibacy of the workers, he set in motion a destructive set of circumstances for the workers and friends.
